That looks horrible!!! Take off the wing, the chrome wheel well trim, those rims, and anything else you put on that isn't shown in the picture becasue your taste is terrible. If you think it looks good, I'm sure it looks like sh*t.

Is that yours 'speedingpenguin' or just a picture you found in the realms of the net?

Each to his own and all that..... but it just looks way out of place IMHO. It is the wrong time frame and the wrong continent for a start. Might look okay on some import racers but not a thirdgen.

However, the worst thing about that car has to be the chrome 'rust-covers' on the wheel arch flares.

Good thing you said that. I was about to tear into you hard core. . .. lol j/k. Thank goodness that's not yours. I'd have to make a road trip to come rip that **** off and break it into as many parts as possible, lol. The owners of those cars should have thier f-body ownership revoked. Man those are horrid. I don't even like them on sport compacts, still ugly. OK, I'm done.

Ok, I wouldn't go break it, but I do think its a sin against all that our engineers have come up with. I love our cars for what they are. Their lines, their feel, their asthetic appeal. If it was done tastefully and matched the car, I don't care how big your "erector set" wing is, as long as it *enhances* the look of your car. Personally, neither of those do it for me.

we've got a guy running around here in a green T/A with a highrise spoiler on the car, looks kinda off but at the same time looks a little bit better than those alluminum and painted spoilers (his is all fiberglass) he also has that daytona hood. Then at my school there are a few guys in the town who drive around in 4th gen maro's with highrise fiberglass too, and not the good lookin RS styled ones, or even thebetter looking SS decklid but instead these huge wings that sit over the decklid and go about a 2 feet high then drop back down...just looks off. but on that first pic,i think i almost like the spoiler more than i like the chrome **** over the wheels. lol.

Bleurgh...looks horrible. I don't really see how anyone at all can think that car looks cool, especially with the chrome fender flares ...a waste of a good car in my opinion.

people need to listen to there cars... there are a lot of third gens out there that get mis treated... Please support your local abused and r*ced out third gen by knocking out the owner and adopting them. A dollar a day will bring a third gen firebird or camaro back to its fit, muscle car appearance. Please help them out before its too late. Thanks you
Big Al

edit: I know see that this person lives in NJ... trust me.. the hunt is on.

:sillylol:

FlynLow, no offense, but your wing isnt the smallest ...certainly nowhere near as bad as the ones shown above though.

It's even worse when you see the most tastelessly riced out cars though...couple of cars at my school like that. In particular, a teal early 90's Mazda Protege with a similar aluminum wing, yellow flame stickers, fart can, thin white racing stripes, fake chrome rims with fake drilled and slotted rotors...I'll never understand why people do this.

I guess I am. I rather be a conformist then a tool with a F-16 wing, huge can mufflers, tons of stickers, and always have my pants around my knees with a hat on backwards. Yeah, thoes guys are original. Yeah, and then to try to pass off there car as fast...fast cars are not original, total conformist if your car is fast... I guess adding on tons of useless crap to your car, thats what makes you original.. Way to sound like a tool. Ill remain an uptight conformist as my car daily driver does 11's and able to drive to and from the track, out turn a vette, and still be able to cruse around town... yep... total conformist...

have you ever heard of this thing called aerodynamics? A spoiler forces the car to stay closer to the ground as in more traction. The more down force, more traction, so it really isnt a useless piece of crap. Stickers, ya they dont do anything.fart cans, ya they do something, just coz they happen to be flashy doesnt mean they dont serve a purpose. Suppose you think the Mopars with the superhirise spoilers looked r**y and that they were mere lookers and not performers? All i said was that some people need to chill out when other people do things to their cars. Just because it is not something you like doesnt mean that its wrong.

As for your ride outperforming a vette Hey words dont mean a thing, you got numbers then we can take your ride seriously.
Seriuosly though, being a conformist is ok with me, i know im not one but thats ok to. My original point was that its good for some people to do things other than the norm, as in putting a spoiler not usually seen on our f bodies. Personally i wouldnt do my car like that but i dont think its something to cause a riot over like some people on here would probably do. Let me school ya some more. There is no way in heck that your car is runnin 11's unless you gotta use juice. What, wait a minute isnt that the same stuff them dudes with the pants around their ankels usin? Come on man, I think you've probably been beaten one to many times by a hopped up civic

Edit: speedingpenguin, i know that it is not your car, i was just sticking up for the people who are into that kinda thing.

2 dope, dont worry brah, its not worth the time. The subject of aftermarket wings on a 3rd gen has been beat to death many times on this website. What it basically comes down to is, almost everyone on this website hates it no matter what. The question we should be asking is, if they hate it so much, then why are they posting pictures of horrible examples asking for 'opinions'? I think its an excuse for them to vent. I think its funny.

You sir, are a tool

Unless your doing over 120mph, the wing does nothing... Look at IROC racers... they dont have a super wing, and they travle at a pretty good clip.. Wings are not aerodynamic... if they were, they wouldnt provide down force... why dont you take a physics class. I never said my car was going to out turn a vette, but im working on it instead of wasting my time like you are. And to say you cant run 11's without nitrous!! You are great to have around for a few laughs... so all thoes guys with LS1's, other small blocks and big blocks that run 11, 10, and 9's without nitrous or any power adder... i guess thats fake huh? You have just proved that you know nothing about cars, and you should continue not to talk about anything regarding them anymore; stick with your wings pal. You have been own3d. now go back to your tool shed...

That may be true if youre driving a Civic. There are probably twenty cars on this board that would prove you wrong right now. bigals87z28 put it best, dont run your mouth if you dont know what youre talking about...

m'kay,......i will run my mouth all i want, tis a free country. Im so tired of people sayin oh my car does this or that...proof talks and walks my friends. Excuse me but ah, i do know what i am talking about. My point was that too many people like to rip on something that is different. So what, big deal if someone wants to put a wing on their 3rd gen. Its not the end of the world. Some people take it too seriuosly and say their gonna beat the crap outta someone who happens to have that on their car. That to me is funny and yet sad.

11 second with no power adder, ok, and Bigal yes sir you did say that you can outturn a vette, look at your post again.

Name calling, hey thats great, i graduated grade school long time ago, guess some of you are still trying to get outta grade 3. I have nothing but respect for most of the people on here. Im not here to prove my education, im here to discuss 3rd gens.

Aerodynamics are used when designing wings etc. That is how airplanes get lift, look at the shape of an airplane wing. Now reverse it and put it on a car and you get downforce, nuff said. Anyhow call me what you want, i dont care, im here to learn, not see little whine fests goin on. You dont like it, so beit, Like i said i dont like the look either but some do.

yes there is areodynamics in a wing, but they aren' areodynamic. there is a big diffrence, wings are rated (at least for racing purposes, le mans, cart, f1, nascar, ect) by DRAG vs Downforce. the 'good' wings have a high RATIO of downforce vs drag. but all of them create drag.
