Yeah, I have a set of those on my S-10. I've painted them two or three times. I taped off the polished parts and sprayed 4 coats of gloss black plasti-kote (Advance Auto) on them. I painted the centercaps as well. This was two years ago and they still look really good. Took me a day to do them all. I let the paint dry overnight. What color is your car?

No prime is necessary with the plasti-kote.

Hmm, black may not look that good against the blue. I'd either paint the rims a nice light metalic grey or possibly even the same color as the car. If it;s done right, the color matching can really look good. You really want to stay away from chrome an shiny silver paints...IMO.

not just your opinion...it's everyone's opinion. i'm sure some of you remember the pic posted a while back of the guy who chrome-spraypainted his entire engine. it's impossible to pass off chrome spray paint as real chrome, so PLEASE dont try. I'd vote for polishing them. if you dont want to do it yourself, there's a guy on these boards with a polishing business and he'll do all 4 wheels for $250. if you must paint, i'd say go with gunmetal gray, or bodycolor IF you can find an exact match.

Thats a beautiful 91RS..trade you a white 89 IROC for it...lol. Seriously though, that is a good looking car. I'll ask around and see if anybody around here might be interested in it. Can you give me a ballpark on what you'd like to get out of it?

Do not paint them body color...that just wouldn't look right. Imagine a red car with red rims....Anyways why don't you just take them to a body shop have them sand blast them and then use the wetsanding method to polish them up a bit and then shoot them with some clear. If you're too cheap to even get them sand/media/bead blasted (which is fairly cheap) Get some Aircraft stripper and spray that on each rim to get the rest of the chipping ugly clear off and then do the wet sanding process.

Look two posts up to CamaroRS385hp red RS with red rims.....looks sweet. Doesn;t look bad at all. I do agree with SC82TA though, polish those bad boys up, they'll look awesome against the blue.

You're right that doesn't look too bad...I guess I never paid too much attention to it. As long as its not solid red because I like the parts of the rim that are left alone.

Yeah, I've only seen one or two people to paint the entire rim and that looked really stupid. If you leave the polished parts showing, it looks alright.

CamaroRS385hp, you got any close up pics of your wheels. I think everyone posting here would love to see a better pic of the red 15's. I got those myself, and am exploring options until I can get the 16" irocs you have on the white 'maro. Thanx.
