Finally, pics of my car

Hey all, hope this is the right place for this.. here are a couple pics of my car. I finally got a chance to scan some in.

Quick info on her.

1989 Firebird
T tops
4 speed auto
295,000 kms
Original engine, tranny and rear end
New Hood and hatch struts
New ignition system

Open Rear end with stock gearing
Pretty much all stock minus the cat and the stereo.

Stereo info

Pioneer head unit (Dual preouts (front/rear or front+rear/sub 2.2v)

ASI 400w Max 4 chan amp powering 4 speakers
Rockford Power 400a4 amp powering subs

Front - Stock 4x6's
Rear - Rockford 3 way 6x9's (Top line model 3 years ago)
Subs - 2 Pioneer 10" subs (Soon to be replaced with Soundstream USA 10's)

Please exuse the poor quality of the scans, and the dust in the sub pic is from when I was on a camping trip, long since been cleaned up.

Opinions? <cower> :lala:

Soundstream has been around for quite a while. I suppose they are comparable to phoenix gold or JL.

About a year ago they went bankrupt somehow and were bought out by some japanese company. It seems the quality of the equipment has gone down lots since then, only selling stuff based on past rep of the brand name.

Their amps used to be rated low like Rockford's, but they were almost always at least 1 ohm stable or better.

The subs were kind of like JL's where they needed little power and very little space to sound very well.

I find their equipment to be good stuff, expecially the USA series and the SPL series.

Thanks for the complements on the car. Its got a 2.8 in it right now as I said before, but i hope to get a 3.4 in there one day when I am rich and famous.

Nope its not an L03.

Well the soundstreams have arrived. I am also looking into a phoenix gold XS 2500 amp to power them.

Just make sure you build a box for those subs or you'll notice virtually no improvement over those Pioneers, if they are currently on a plate like it appears.

Actually, it is a sealed box I have right now. I have never really believed in making baffle plates.

Thats just me

No it isn't. THere are a lot of us who realize how badly baffles suck. That's why I made the comment. I couldn't tell from the pic that it was a full box.

Soundstream use to make the best stuff out there. now owned by power acoustic. I have 1000w amp that is about 8 years old and would compare it to may planetaudio 1200watt amp
But sound is more warm felling with planet.
soundstream just plain rocks.

I have always liked soundstream, I have probably had the most experience with their product.

Unfortunately, the USA 10's didn't like my amp too much. 200w rms sure made the subs punch hard and the high range bass was excelent, but I missed the lower boom of the pioneers which also looked much better in the box designed with them in mind.

So the soundstreams now sit on a shelf in wait for a different vehicle and a better suited stereo system to complement.
