peuter headlights anyone?

A lot of people have the painted headlight pockets and my car has been repainted silver and does not have it and i intend to keep it that way. I thought it would be a nice contrast if i could find a set of head lights that had a peuter backing then you would get that black look from the lights while the car is off. Dont really care what modifications id have to do with the brackets that can all be figured out. My buddy mentioned something like this and ive never even seen lights like it before but i think it would be really cool. Would prefer to stay with the split high and low beams but if necessary would go to a single panel.

I dont know if this would work, but VHT Niteshades, i think is the name of it, its like tint in a bottle for lights, when you turn the light on its supposed to be like a normal light, then when off it looks like a blackout. Ive never used the stuff tho. It can be found in summit or jegs. Like 10 bucks a can.

Kevin

edit: here is more info bout it

take some cheap ones apart....just use some really good glue? painting over your lights is a mistake on a street car.

I remember those! They had the majestic "honeycomb" technology that let light trhough but all you saw was a dark surface when they were off. Interesting...

I actually started looking around for them but can't find anything! Just a little more info; they were just like normal headlights in every way, except the lens had a black tint, so your headlights would look completely black when off, then light up normally.

you COULD get thoes cheap H4 conversion housings and seperate the back from the lense... paint it all, and put it back together... however....

1.. its reflective for a reason... your lights wont work nearly as well like that.

2. you cant put a higher watt bulb in thoes housings... they melt if you do.

if you try it and deem the amount and pattern of light they give off acceptable, you can try that... but it sounds like a bad idea to me.

I know i really wanted to stay away from painting them because it doesnt seem like a good idea. What i will probably do is buy one (theyre pretty cheap) separate it, paint it, re seal it, then put it on while a normal one is one my car and see how different the two are.....i doubt it will work well though. I'm still very open to other solutiong to achieve a similar effect.

hows this?

buy a big LCD panel.

when current is applied its either clear or dark..... so you can turn it on or off........ when the lights off, have it dark, when the lights on have it clear....

athough, thats a costly solution.

A: www.demandmotorsports.com - These guys are "O-K"
B: Thank you
C: No, it's shabby on the bottom end, but can do 145mph all day long, so it's not really a 1/4 mile car
D: You're welcome

EDIT: Here's a direct link to the product: http://www.demandmotorsports.com/Detail.bok?no=490

RE-EDIT: On the inner pair, I removed he lamp glove which is "blinding" bright, but it's on the high beams anyway. When off, it looks MUCH better this way like new cars with a seperate high/low bulb. For example, Ken's red convertable is awesome, and he has the same headlights, but it doesn't look as good with all four lamps having the lamp glove (Your car kicks as_S Ken, just my opinion on the lights). I'm real happy with mine.

I really hope i can find a set (ill probably buy 2 sets if i find em) because this is exactly what im looking for to go with the custom look that i will have on the front of my car.
