Would you clear Coat this?
Alright guys.........This stuff has been sitting in my closet for the last 4 months till I got my chit together and also came up with more money to finish putting my engine back together.....My project was to put an LT1 Cam in the car and then ran out of money but at the same time I went ahead and cleaned everything up and polished some of the stuff......
Now my question is, Im thinking about getting some of the aerosol can clear coat from Eastwood company....http://www.eastwoodcompany.com/Searc...=13&Image.y=15
I want to clear my intake which was just bead blasted and also want to clear my polished plenum and fuel rail ........I dont want to have to fool around with taking it all back apart to just clean it and was thinking the clear would keep it looking good for a long time...
whatcha guys think?

find someone to poweder coat it clear, other wise the spray clear will turn yellow or give it an ugly tint to the shine (dull it).

That stuff from Eastwood says it wont turn yellow and stuff...but having it clear powdered coated is a good idea but I cant have the throttle body cleared cause of the plastic pieces......also DAMN! I dont want to take my fuel rail back part....LOL!!!!!!!

Would I clear coat this? No. I wouldn't have painted it in the first place. If you want your TPI to look nice, glass bead it. Nothing looks better than extremely clean parts. Painted parts look dumb. Never have I looked at a motor that has a bunch of ramdomly painted parts bolted on and said "wow, that krylon plenum looks awsome! And look, he even painted his distributor hold down! Now thats sweet!"
Sand that paint back off and go spend your time and money making the car actually go faster.

id paint the lower manifold..... never tried clear, but it should work... mostly its that the bare alum does oxidize and it does look cruddier after a lil while.
i wouldnt coat the highly polished stuff.... and if you didnt intend to keep it polished, you shouldnt have polished it to begin with...
but lil late for that now..
you can try clearing the fuel rails and such, but i donno what the results will be...
try it and tell how it comes out... most people here are afraid to clear coat polished parts for fear of crudding up all that polishing work.

Im to old to even deal with stupid replies like that.....to each his own, I guess. What you like may not be what others like so keep that CHIT! to yourself. I could go off but Im wont even go down to your level. Grow up!.....
If that were mine I would have it powder coated clear to make that polished alum stay that purrty for a long time. Post pics when your done, from the looks of it you will have a awsome looking motor
