Does look pretty good. IMO, lowering springs would set that car off! Nice car man.

I think it looks very ugly, sorry. Especially with that gaping key hole sticking out like a sore thumb.

that's a beautiful car, and I think it just doesn't flow with it

I like the black out idea, just dont like the stuck on top of the tail light kinds, looks too gawdy and cheesily added on IMO. Maybe I'm just baised since my actual tailights are blacked out, not covered?

For what it's worth, I like it. What make is your blackout and where did you get it, if you don't mind my asking?

Thanks for the copliments! And for those who don't like them, that's cool, everyone has different opinions. I'm not real fond of the key hole either, or the fact that they're velcro'd on. I was considering getting a set of 85-90 t/a tails, still kinda am. I'd really like to get the blackouts on thirdgen resource, but I don't have $100 laying around to drop on blackouts. Does anyone know if their blackouts are the velcro type also? Or do they drill in?

I'm not real sure what brand mine are. They don't say anything on them anywhere, almost like they could have been home-made. They were on ebay for $20 and no one had bid on them so I figured why not, I'll give it a try.

As for the lowering springs comment- believe me I know. When I went from 14--->16" wheels I got a huge wheel well gap. Money is really tight for me being in college and it takes for forever to get anything for my car, but believe me lowering springs are next on my list!

If your considering different taillights, black out the actual lenses. Lots cleaner looking. Old picture, but you get the idea

IHI-wow that looks killer. Did you spray tint on them? I tried finding that stuff at auto parts stores to no avail. I haven't checked online yet though......

thanks for the idea I may end up doing that.

Hrddrv, your car turned out well after the wreck, nice job man. I dig the red interior.

The guy that painted the car wont tell me what he did, but from looking at them it appears a small amount of black paint mixed into some clear coat then sprayed over the lenses, just something he does to his "special" cars, lol. Just dont go over board so the lights dont shine through. These are almost border line, but at night the actual tailights show up pretty good.

Thanks for the compliment. I hate the red actually and plan on changing it. I am going to do a whole custom interior one of these days. All black and purple. Just like a big ol bruise. LOL

Just cut your springs if money is tight. Use a reciprocating saw so you dont heat the springs up. it works great.

I like the painted tint better.

Using the reciprocating saw keeps the springs cool which will not take the tensile strength out of them. I have done it before, and if done right it works great. Mark, maybe you should get your post whoring butt from behind a computer and pick up a power tool...just a thought...LOL

Blackouts dont always look tacked on. Personally I think they make the car look much cleaner, the tails are one color insead of four.

yeah only problem as i understand it is that the springs have a certain spring rate and are designed to be a certain length so when you cut them your ruin the balance between how long they are and how stiff they are...and bouncy bouncy bouncy....i definitly could be wrong tho

You are correct to a degree. As long as you limit yourself to about one coil (about a 2in drop) the spring rate is not drastically altered.
