I saw some of those light bulbs at the parts store.. Thats like $20 for the bulb!! Not the lense or anything... Doesn't sound very like a very cheap alternative...

The SilverStar turn signal bulbs is an amber Sylvania LongLife bulb dipped in a mirror-esque pretty reflective paint. This paint allows the full color of amber through, without making the enclosure it's in appear amber when off. So for instance, the front turn signals on Camaro's are so diffused that you can't really see the amber of an amber bulb in there, the masking the amber color of the bulb is pointless; therefore save $15.51 and pay $5 for amlber LongLife 1157 bulbs, or save $17.81 and get standard amber 1157 bulbs. For under $20, you could get a pair of 1157 LEDs in any color you wanted, which also have zero color emission when off - that's what I did.

Where did you get the LED turn signal bulbs TPI? I just got new housings and loved how yours look. They are really bright! Same with those headlight housings?

www.autolumination.com - Decent prices, decent products - you could probably find the LEDs you're after cheaper on ebay but this was just easier for a large purchase. All LEDs used in the pictures are white - yet emit a purple tint almost. I have been thinking about amber LEDs - like REALLY oragne on the C5 vettes, but the white seems to be real popular.

hey on your front turn signals did you use factory housing and polish it or brand new ones with led's installed? and did you use 12led bulb? cause 30led bulb in the 1157 sells for 20$ each!

Brand new housings, and I believe they are the 12 or so LED units

Could I have a clear side marker painted to match my car's color (red) and have an amber bulb (or maybe another combination) tat would still be able to shine through. I know actually painting it would block off too much light, but maybesome kind of shade tinting would look good. Clear or amber kinda looks funny to me.

It would shine through, but not as bright as it should be. The red would overpower the amber bulb and it'd still light up red (not legal). It'd look pretty good though. Since I have a red car I thought about using a 'birds REAR side marker in the front, but didn't want legality problems so I went with clear. My friend with a white MR2 used vinyl that matched the color of his car, and it looked pretty good. The tunr signals were amber, but the vinyl is fading and it's looking crappier.
