OEM Z06 wheels
Well I am looking for some OEM Z06 wheels, and was wondering where the best place to look would be? Everything I see on ebay is for aftermarket, and I want the original factory ones. The reason I'm looking at the OEM is because they are the lightest, and I dont wanna spend all that money just for looks, I wanna get some performance improvements out of it. Also, did the OEM come chromed on any of the vettes, cause the few that I have seen weren't. And finally, what do you guys think would be a fair price to pay for some OEM wheels? Thanks in advance everyone
depends....which oem z06 wheels are you asking for as there were 3 and the lightest out of them will run you the price of a thirdgen easily.
the only aftermarket company that uses the true oem cast is oe concepts. you can find them at http://www.oeconcepts.com/
do not purchase the wheels from ebay unless you want to take chances. companies like afs wheels, performance wheel outlet, AAA, etc. all have problems as well as they are heavier. do a search on the internet and you will find more.
expect to pay anywhere from 1,000-1,500 depending on size and company for the cast wheels unless you go with gm. the downside to going with gm wheels is you will be stuck running a 17/18 combo which really doesn't look right on the thirdgens but the heaviest out of all the options won't be nearly as expensive as a chrome cast replica. if your truly worried about weight go with their magnesium z06 wheels which will run you roughly 2500 without tires.
here is what my old cast 18's looked like....i ran them for a little while and quickly got rid of them. good luck.

Thanks for the info. The reason I asked about the chrome is I found this auction on ebay, and it just seemed to good to be true. I emailed the guy asking about it, so i'll see what he says.
wheels
Ther were also these, which are the ones I normally see.

well the only ones i've seen are either painted grey, polished, or magnesium....someone could have ordered just about anything from the factory but you never know. the top link the pictures are too bad to tell the quality of the rim but it doesn't look good.
the bottom ones look like typical painted oem wheel.
it's all a toss up, either way its a choice you'll have to make. don't forget about the $300 or so dollars you'll need for adapters too.

so for a budget of 1000 for wheels, what would you recommend. I dont really care if they are chrome, I am more interested in the weight factor. But I also dont wanna spend 2500 for a set of wheels. Id rather get a new rear end with that.
well i suggest saving up then as 1,000 isn't much at all if your talking about tires and wheels. maybe try to find something used that fits your tastes. while you'll notice lightweight race wheels more then a rear they are very expensive.
maybe just go with the smallest wheel you can and the proper tire to save weight then. there are just to many factors without knowing what your looking for.

How about these? Direct bolt on and a much better price?

They did make chrome Z06 wheels from the factory. I'm buying a set from a friend with a 2001 Z06 with a custom vert conversion. You can see a pic of it here (its the orange one). I'd say the best bet of finding a deal on the OEM Z06 wheels is constantly checking the Corvette Forums for sale section, or if there are any local Corvette clubs in your area, ask someone to let you know if any members with Z06's are going to upgrade their wheels (and sell the stocks).
Side question, Jeff, what size spacers did you run with your Z06 wheels? I'm thinking of going with 2.25" on all corners. You think its gonna fit?

what are the offsets again? i ran that in the front but that was with an outrageous +65 offset...i wouldn't think you'll need that all around. too bad your in hawaii...i've got the one set just laying around i can't use so that would save you some money unless you already have them. either way they are going to look good.
this is the lightest wheel i've ever seen in person.

unfortunately its in a fwd offset mainly for imports and its very narrow at 7" wide.

I've been looking on eBay for some cheaper knock-offs of the 2000 Corvette wheels and came across an auction from this eBay store: moore9911. I was curious of anybody's opinions on these aftermarket wheels.
The particular auction I saw was here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=66483. If the item is unavailable, search the store above and find the Corvette wheels.
