Painting my grill

I am going to pick up some Krylon Fusion Spray paint, for Plastic. And paint my stock RS grill black. It should look a lot nicer than the faded black it is now. Anyone else do this?

would post a pic but every time I take a pic with the digital camera it is too big to use here. too bad tgo doesn't downsize them a little like cardomain does.

have you considered buying a new grill? A 91-92 Z grill would look real nice on it. I just bought one from classic industries for $52 bucks. It is SHINY!

I like that car.

Yeah I do like those Z grills. But in MD you have to have front tags so I don't want to spend 50 and then Hide the bow tie or "camaro". Just trying a cheep way to spif it up a little.

You can get a brand new Z28 grill from gmpartsdirect.com for like $23 I think, with shipping it's around $30. If you want an RS drill, it should be about the same or even less.

Hmm..front tag laws. Gotta hop in on this one. I live in Buffalo, New York. Yea, i dont have a font tag. Don't really care. So far got pulled over 3 times for not having one. Only cost me 50 bucks so far. Only paid one times worth, got let off the rest. I dont see it as a law thats enforced unless the cop is having a really really crappy day. No points, only a small fine. I'd look into it if you really dont wanan put one on. Another option is leave it off but leave it on the back seat or something. Put it on the dash when you drive. Or, say the "mounting bracket" broke off, and the part is on back order because the car's so old. That one got me off once or twice. It's especially useful if you have a friend at a body shop. Get a "receipt" showing that its on "backorder". If ya gets my drift. Should get you off that way if you actually do get busted and have to go to court to argue it

It's a little more expensive now than I remembered, but I hope this helps. Part # 10139545.

I painted mine with matte black rustoleum. I honestly don't remember why....probably what was lying around. It has that primer black look, and I've had lots of compliments. I had planned on repainting the "Camaro" but everyone seems to like the blacked out look. If I decide to stay with that look, I'm gonna smooth the letters, but i just haven't decided 100% yet.

I scuffed the grille with scotchbright, and then painted.
