new camaro...not bad for $300...
hey guys, i got another camaro to replace the one that i wrecked over this past christmas. it is an 87 sport coupe, no frills, v6/auto car. this picture shows how it looked when i brought it home last week. it has since recieved over 60 hours of work and i now have subframe connectors, z28 wheels painted black with the edges of the spokes polished, new stereo, deep clean inside and out. it has some small rust issues, but other than that, the thing is clean. i am really excited about the car and can't wait to get the new motor in it. the motor is a 310 ci sbc and you can read about the specs at my website in my sig.

here is another pic with the new car and the old wrecked car. i have also shaved the side molding and the emblems. thinking of relocating the camaro emblems that were on the side of the car to the back of the car, in the same location as the RS badges on the white car. i will get new pics of the car tomorrow and post them, it looks a million times better...oh, and i took off all those ugly stickers...it also has a new hatch...then one off the white car that is, so it's kinda miss-matched. but it is a good solid foundation for the new project...for those of you that are curious...that sticker on the back quarter panel said "Chevy Power: the reason your mother made you wear clean underwear" it came off the third day i had the car, couldn't bear to look at it any longer.

white one looks bigger for some reason
the red one looks kinda like a 2nd gen i dunno why
the red looks like one of those cars that hops off the line and the front wheels come up and all because not close to the ground
nice for 300

the white one was wrecked pretty severely, so it may look taller cause the passenger side was pushed back and up. i hope that the car jumps off the line, that would be wicked. the front end should drop down alittle with the addition to the bigger motor. i am going to pull the isolators out of the back to attempt to make it alittle lower.

I do have one question. Are u going to put those gfx off the other car onto that one (at least the good ones) That would really look awsome.Even if you dont with some body work and paint and that new motor that car would still look great
Good Luck

02RedWS6TA, you've clearly only registered here to "terrorize" our community with childish insults. I refuse to let some egotistical dick take immature jabs at what I consider to be friends. You obviously have no interest in being here except for the sake of bragging about a car that most of us think is a pile of **** anyway. I'm certain you're either a childish idiot with no car, or just a loser stuck making absurd payments on your "precious" 4th gen. Sadly you've won by getting a response from anyone including myself. I much rather associate with these people regardless of what they drive, you however never outgrew the social system of an elementary school where status is based on toys.

I don't think a person with a 465 horse 02 T/A would even waste his or her time trashing other peoples f-bodies..... Let alone come to a 3rdgen board and trash all thirdgens...

guys, what can i say, i am truly touched by the geniune comradery. thank you so much for the support. i need to get more pictures of the car, exterior and interior. it is red on red and i like that alot more in person than i do in pictures. if anyone is going to be in the area on May 1st, i am planning a big motor swap party at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, GA. my parents have a drag racing ministry that travels with the NSCA and other organizations and they cook a massive amount of burgers/hotdogs/chicken/whatever(it's all free to you, our gift to you) for the racers/fans at the NSCA events on saturday evening after the final rounds of qualifying. i plan to drop the new motor in over dinner so that means that friday and saturday day will be consumed with getting the motor/car ready. (ie: getting old motor out, pushing car over to the water hose to clean, ect.) anyone in the area is more that welcom to come and hang out and enjoy some street legal racing action and a wonderful motor swap to boot!
i will have more info on the party/NSCA race later on next month so check the Southeast Regional boards often. pm me with questions/comments/ways you can help...(looking for heddman shorties/y-pipe for next to no money, doesn't have to be coated.)

mw66nova, great score for 300 bucks, wish mine would have only cost that much when i got it. Just add a few ground effects, and she'll be even better in my opinion. All i started out with was a body with about 3 coats of paint on it and a little old 305. Paint's been redone, motor is in the process of seeing its last days and will be replaced by a stout 73 Z-28 350, not built to stock of course. But good luck with it.
And I don't necessarily believe that the other guy had a 465 horse LS1 either. But thats my opinion. Later.

guys, i am keeping the gfx off the car, with the v6 springs up front and the v8 sitting in the bay, it will give it a nice mean "muscle car" stance that i am looking for...kinda old skool with a bit of thirdgen thrown in there. i can always add the gfx later if i ended up hating the way it looks....what do you think of the red with black gfx? anyone got pics of red camaros with black gfx? i really like the black on the bottom of the car.
here's another pic...

i like our thirdgens with out gfx, i think that they give it the meaner stance with out them. my friend has a red firebird with the bottom painted black like yours, it looks awsome in my opinion.
keep up the good work

i think formulas/firebirds look good with no gfx when they have p275 or bigger tires and are lowered. camaros have to be set up just right, cant just be an s/c with 15's...

i am going to put a cowl hood on it (cervinis or harwood haven't totally decided) and the passenger side rear quarter needs to be replaced (rust issue) but other than that the body is strait as an arrow. bringing in $150 a week is pretty rough as far as good appearance mods, but i promise you that it will be mechanically sound and will run consistant mid 13's from the n/a 305 by the time it is done. i need to get it painted but i am not sure where or how much i should spend. there is a guy in texas that has offered full body work/paint to my dad's z28. i am hoping that the same offer is extended to me as well. $3000 paint job/body work for $1500. (that's ten weeks of pay if i don't eat/sleep in my car/don't talk on the phone/etc.) the motor is ready with the exception of the headers, which i hope to come across a nice set of hedman shorties.

It looks like a nice affordable project you have going on there! I see you're going from t-tops to a hardtop, was that something you wanted to do or just because of the deal you got on it? How's it underneath as far as rust goes? It probably isn't as big a concern there as it is in NY. Best of luck with it man... I wish i were in the area for the motor swap party

the rust is next to nothing under the car. it was a Maryland car and so i was alittle concerned. like i said, the passenger rear quarter will need replacement, but other than that, it's in great shape. i was not the guy looking for the car so i didn't have a whole lot of say in the t-top or not. my buddy Jimmy Biggs in Dover, DE was looking for it for me. i have gotten used to the non t-top and i actually like it alot. the headliner is in perfect condition too. the motor swap party is being canceled. at least the party at the track. my dad brought up some good points ie: no way to get home if the swap goes south. i would like to get the car done before the commerce race so that i can possibly race it up there. anyhow, i will keep ya'll updated.

That motor of yours sounds pretty stout for a 305.
