Toyed around in PS a bit with the camaro, and decided to darken things up a bit.Blacked out the exhaust tips,"gunmetaled" the rims and polished the lip/tops of the spokes, and painted the keyhole black,as well as painted the amber parts of the taillights red.most of this would be an easy weekends worth of work, with the rims probably taking a day or two longer.
doing the tails this weekend and probably the tips and keyhole as well.
one question though.does chrome take well to being painted over?or will i have to prep the tips in order to get the paint to stick?theyre hooker dual 3" chrome plated tips.turned kinda rusty, and i think i like the way they would look black with the rims painted gunmetal.anyone have any idea?

Should all look pretty good. I think you exhaust tips stick out to far though.

i say cut the tips off completely....looks better when you can't see them and especially since they are as short as they are i'd remove them.

the color scheme is nice, chrome does not take well to paint, i like the tails stock but all red is better then blacked out....it's your car do as you like.

thanks kandied i was hoping you would chime in
i just got done painting the tails tonight, they look reeaaal nice.even mom and grandma like them better with the red turn signals lol ill throw some pics up tomorrow
i painted this chrome license plate surround i had laying around with the Testors paint and it took the paint ok and it looks ok(kind of an anodized red look),but it still seemed like it was a bit thin,so i dont know what im going to do with the tips yet.i really like the way they look(and yes i do want them in a bit more than they are currently)and think they would look good black, but i cant take them off of the car without cutting them off,at which point they wont go back on.i think ill try and find some etching primer like my dads friend told me to do and see if that works.if it turns out ****ty,ill just hack the tips off and throw them away and have nothing there but tail pipes.

ok heres the final product.probably gonne spray some more clear on and then wet sand so they have a bit more gloss, but for the time being its good enough.painted a chrome license plate surround i had too and it came out pretty good so i put that on the rear platealso took some aircraft stripper to the tips, and it took alot of the rust off so they actually look pretty good now.still gonna paint them black, but not till I do the rims.Heres the pics
