Back to life!!!

Hey guys this is my friends cuzin's 86 Firebird, the motor died a few months ago (im now only postin this, too lazy) , my friend bought an 88 gta (fully loaded) just for the motor becuz the car was in a accident and deemed totaled. anyway after my friend blew the 305 in his 86 bird, i got him a good deal on the 88 gta. so after about 2 weeks, we got the car towed to my friends house and started. week and half later it was on the road with a nicely implated 350 tpi motor, alumin driveshaft, exust manifolds and y pipe from the gta plus the gas tank from the gta all went into his car. orignally carbed, and pretty much damn near base model excupt power windows.

also my friend had a 87 gta he totaled and kept the ram air 2 hood that i painted in my garage and we putthat on the firebird to top off the swap. anyway if ya got any questions just shoot them my way, ill post the 3 best pics i like.

the motor, almost looks like it belongs in there. it was nice doin all of this in a big 2 car garage with almost every tool needed to do almost anything even a lovly Snapon scan tool to show no check engine codes . it only took about 5 days to do the swap total but it was spaced out over a month. and between 5-12 on like 2 of those days.

last pic, i lowered the bump stops on the hood so all i need to do is adjust the fenders alittle and move the hood over some and it will look good.

the first pic is of the car finished at my friends house and the last pic here is at the owner over the birds house.

well the kid has to start savin for new tires, and then mod it. after the swap kinda killed his wallet, total cost for swap.

88 GTA - $650 entire car
payin master tech from work to help - $400
payin me to help - $0
few gaskets - $53
other little things - $35

total cost for swap $1138
after driving it for the first time with a real motor and big smile on face - $ priceless

so it kinda killed his wallet for alittle bit. but now he's gotta get it pass inspection. they failed him for 1 bald tire, the oil light was on (older dummy lights) and thats it they didnt even test him for emmissions becuz of the light

if he kept the stock hood on it, it would almost be a sleeper...nice work tho!

Awsome work. Sounds amazingly similar to what my bro and I did.

Bought wrecked 88 IROCZ 350 TPI $1100
Transplated into his 85 Camaro sport coupe. ($350 purchase price in 1998).

he just sold his camaro the other week.

dan im not sure if we can get him up too dnd anytime soon, he lives in freehold.

well he was goin to keep the stock hood, if my friend didnt get his car smashed and decided to junk it. becuz the ram air hood came off of his 87 gta that was metallic red/maroon color. i posted a few pics of the paint proesses on here a few weeks back before the swap.

cool of you to chime in here bill, i forgot who did a swap just like what me and my friend did. thanx for the reminder.

the only thing he needs is the ram air box for the hood, my friend had that on his 87 gta but junked it when he junked the car becuz he figured he didnt need it so he got rid of it. had a brand new K&n in it also.
