Went a bit crazy, but worth it.

I was doing suspension upgrades, Ebiach Pro Kit, Bilsteins, billet strutmounts, all of the steering stuff.

While I was under there I saw the crudy K member, Looked around 10 bolts, what the heck, I yanked it out and powder coated it!

Turned out great, I also did the lower control arms, now most of my undercarrage you could eat off of.

That's what rags are for. Put them on the jack. Nice shot of your car in the new f-bod video, by the way.

Did you do the powdercoating yourself? How do you do it?

I have a polyurethane cap for my floor jack, No damage to the paint. Got it my local speed shop about ($30) but worth it in my case.

Which video could you link the thread?

Yes do all the powder coating myself. I have a converted old style refergrator into an oven so I can do large parts. The gun at harbor freight is about $50-70 and air compressor and powder about $10 per pound.

Clean the part very well, I usually sand blast, hook up the gun/transformer and coat with powder, put in oven at 400'sh for 30 min (depends on powder specs) and Its done....

way to go! I had my k-member off so I cleaned it up and treated it with POR-15. Looks fairly similar to your pic, but in person the powder coating is probably nicer. By the way, I just got my engine pulled last night so the headers are free at last! I'll PM or call you about bringing them over to be ceramic coated. Here's how my k-member came out. I also have the new mounts bolted up and had Classic Tube bend up new front brake lines specifically bent to go directly to my line lock I can't wait to get the whole system mocked up to see how it looks

No, You just have to lift it like 1". I have a engine hoist so I hooked it up and lifted it 1".

NovaSS is right on, but my engine is out anyway so i took the opportunity to clean up the k-member. I'll be doing the a-arms over the winter with POR-15 and replace the bushings and ball joint at the same time. Actually, I'll be undercoating the whole car with POR-15. That's gonna really suck to do

What you need to get is a rotisserie, so this way you can turn the car over and not have to get underneath.

Then when your done you can sell it to me cheap since it will be used.

is taking the engine out enough for the rotisserie? I thought you'd need to strip the whole car off.. if not I just might buy myself one to do the floor... hmmm....

If I had your painting skills I would yank items off to paint too. I was hoping you would paint the k-member and control arms the same color you did your transmission in, I thought it looked so cool.

I was thinking of doing that, however, for 2 reasons I went black.

1. It was a big SOB to try to get in my oven and the candy blue is a multi stage process so I would have to do it twice. It took a long time to get it up to temp.

2. The black will hide any dirt/oil that might get in the nooks and cranies that I cant easily wipe off.
