What year T/A?

If they are out of an 86+ I am pretty sure they wont work.

The ones I got and tried did not work. I don't recall the year...but they were clear needles with an orange stripe on the bottom. Sucked because it would have been neat looking.

Why not paint your existing needles?

Is there a size difference in length, or in the mounting hole?

Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
The extra weight of the paint could throw the needle off balance, and cause the speedo to read incorrectly. In the same manner, the weight of the Firebird needles may be different than that of the Camaro.

I've read both sides of this argument and I will test this myself.
I have a reverse indiglo overlay to install this week and am going to paint the needles with thinned down Model Master Flouresent Red Orange. I will weigh them before and after to settle this debate.

EDIT: Finished the install. The problem is not the weight of the paint. It is the lack of opacity. The painted needles do not glow bright enough. I ended up sanding the paint off and using a red marker. Worked like a charm.

The firebird holes on the needles were too big for the Camaro needles. They just flopped around. I'm sure you could figure out something to make them work, but it wasn't worth the effort to me.
