Help me choose...

Ok guys, I've got the car ready to go to the shop for a brand new paint job in GM Light Toreador Metallic Red. I'm going to keep my GFX gold so that my wheels and tan interior will be tied in.

The question I have is...should I paint the hood decals, headlight buckets, and grille red also, or should I leave them black.

I'm leaning towards painting them red because I want something i little different than the norm. All insight is appreciated.

Some gold GTA rims would look nice on there.

Here's my take on it... I like the "new paint" look but I still want it to look like it could have been factory. Headlight pockets were black, as were the grill and such in at least 85-87. New color, fine, but keep the pockets black.

Well if you wanna do something different why not paint all of the black pieces gold....it would tie into the theme of the rest of the car, it would look different and should appear as if it could have come that way. thats just my 2 cents.

What do you mean by decals? If they are just decals, I'd get rid of them. If they are hood louvers, I'd leave them alone if they're in good shape, or paint them satin black. If they are hood blisters, I'd paint them with the car color.

Everything else, satin black (or at least semi-gloss).

Keep 'em black.

I like the car the way it is to be honest. Maybe some gold Iroc wheels.

I don't think the red paint and gold GFX will look good. Gotta go body colored or silver on the GFX, UNLESS you have a nuetral color like white or black. Then you can go with gold GFX.

Man, the more I look at your car, the more I like it. I leave the wheels too, no Iroc wheels...and leave the white lettering.

Do you have any other pics???:hail:

change the color, but leave everything else as it was... it'll be sharp,IMHO.

Here are a couple more pics of the car. Just for the record, these pics are very forgiving to the paint job. The paint is a bit faded and cracking/chipping in some places. I've always wanted a dark red camaro, and nothing's gonna stop me from getting it done. I think the gold GFX would tie the tan interior and wheels in good. Rember, this is a deep red, not a bright red.

Abubaca....are you saying I should paint the GFX dark red too? Would this look good with my wheels? I think the gold GFX would look good. Thanks guys for all your feedback!

P.S. I already bought the paint so I'm definately not turning back now!

I think the red/gold may look a bit funky, but that's just me. I would paint the whole car dark red, along with the wheels.

In terms of painting those areas red, I say definitly leave the grille and hood louvers black, and decide one way or the other on the headlight buckets..

Do not paint the hood louvers anything other then refinishing them in black if necessary, painting them body colour is awful.

Do not paint the grill body colour because the car definitly needs some accents.

Headlight pockets is a matter of perspective, i like them body colour, but black looks good as well. Either way on that will look good.
