body side mouldings

should i put the side mouldings on my car. they are the ones that go on the doors. the color doesnt match exactly but it would look even worse if i had a fat dent in my crease

I took mine off when I had it repainted, too. Several months and many paint chips and door dings later, I had them repainted and put on. I like 'em.

Looks real nice without them as long as you have nice body work done. If your door is wavy leave them on, if you body work is strait do away with them.

my body lines are straight right now because i just recently had it bodyworked and painted but what i am afraid of is getting the door dinged up, especially the passenger side since i wont be the one opening it gingerly every time:shrug:

some cars look good with them on and some cars look good with them off. It really depends , if your careful with your car and always park real far away then leave em off ,on the other hand put em on and if you dont like em take em off , their the peel and stick kind right? not the rivited on ones.

I took mine off and will never look back, so much cleaner and since my body is like a sheet of glass down the side i think it pronounces the lines in the door much nicer, Although mine is not a daily driver, and if it does come out it isnt parked anywhere near other cars, only time its halfway close to another car is at shows and i'm not to worried about it there.

I vote for leave em off

Put them on if you drive it regularly. My georgous black paint job looked so good I left them off and within 6 months a bitch co-worker dinged it not once, twice, but THREE times on the same damn door in the same damn week!! I nearly killed her, but went after her insurance company instead.

I don't like them off usually because they visually break up the huge door panels and without them you have a huge featureless surface that just looks bad imo.

Man i dotn know where you guys park, when i first drove my firebird and parked up with everyone else all the dings i got were below or above the strip, never on it, that was before i learned the joy of getting my *** some excercise and parking then walking a mile and a half till whereever i was

I do agree if it is a daily driver, leave em on

I agree with irocbuilder. If it is a daily driver, leave them on. I got mine off but i always park far away from others, or i park where it is not allowed. Better getting a ticket than a dent
I still don't know what looks better, on or off. For my car, i thought it adds to the clean look, since i shaved some stuff and don't have stickers, decals or such.

NO, i will not get grid taillights. I have a set in the cellar and that's where they will stay

*** damn graboid, that things got stance....Yea your looks real clean without, i tried smoothing over the more un noticed parts of the thirdgen body like the molding, antenna, and drip rails..I thought it would go unoticed but people who see it come up and go what it didnt come with drip rails, just looks cleaner in my opinion, what sets it off from the regular stock drivers you see around town.

Man does that vert gotta nice ***, leave those tails that things sick:hail:

i think they look ok on certain cars. it all depends on the color and the look your goin for. i leave mine on just cause i drive it a lot in the summer. i park far away but u never kno what could happen.

I would leave them on, I left them off and within the first week of finishing all the paint and resto work my neighbor put a big ol' door ding in it. I was beside myself and just didn't know what to say.

Thankfully, the doormolding completly covers the ding.

nobody gives a **** about thirdgens in switzerland, you don't see them very often, and usually they are stock and in bad shape. It's not difficult to be the king of third gen camaro ragtops over here, because there is no competition. I will repaint it in february and am still looking for a decent set of 9and11x20" rims.

Graboid: If I may ask are you going to get it repainted inside out or just on the outside and how much do you pay for that?

What's wrong with your current rims, they look great! Much better than I would have guessed had I not seen them on the car...

first, i live in Switzerland. i wiill leave the engine bay black, besause i open the hood only for maintenance purposes, it's hard to impress people with them 305 tbi engines....
I will dismantle the car myself. The cost for the paintjob will be 3000 bucks. If i would sand it by myself it would cost 1250. But there's nothing i hate more than to sand a car. I did it once and i will never do it again.

I always liked the moldings myself but after seeing that convertible I might be changing my opiniion. Sharp car. But after seeing this video I'll keep mine.

Could barely tell the car was shaved with them on, so with the final repaint I left them off! Now I have a huge featureless surface!

if you drive daily and park close leave them on. leaving them breaks up the huge door like some1 said and in some cases can make the car look better.

mine isnt a daily driver either so i took mine off. i park far away and inmy case the car looks better with them off.

and :hail: Grabiod....that thing is stunning.

And that is a really good quote in my opinion. Do you know someone who does it cheaperfor you or is that a standard quote for the company?

I think redraif has the best comparisson of why they should be without....it looks so much better off in those pics. Of course mine never had them so I opt for off....but I also have shaved handles so it would have looked out of place.....I love being featurless
