Suggestions for new paint's 1st polish and wax?

With the F-body gathering this weekend, it's time to detail the new paint on by girl. It was painted last October, and I've avoided doing any detailing at first to allow the paint to set and of course I avoided any polishing or waxing this spring due to the large amount of pollen that we have here in GA.

The plan was McG's polish and wax (that 3 step system thing). Any help would be appreciated.

Sweet Jeebus, what a gorgeous car! If you're good at polishing, I would just do that and skip waxing for now. Give it until late summer before the leaves start falling and after all of this pollen is mostly gone (we still have a lot in NJ, not sure what it's like in GA) before giving it the first wax.

Thanks man. All of the pollen is done here in GA. We started back in March with it, and about 2-3 weeks ago it finally went away. It's real bad down here, like worst in the country according to the Weather Channel. You will literally wash your car, and by the time you start to dry it, there will be a nice yellow coat already on your car.

Here's what i do-

Step1- Meguiars Deep Crystal paint cleaner (seems to get rid of fine scratches, and makes paint smooth).

Step2- Meguiars Deep Crystal polish (brings out the shine)

Step3- Meguiars NXT tech wax (shines and protects)

It comes out looking like this, and I haven't waxed or polished it in 3 months-

ya i love the Maguires 3 step. But I usually will just do the first step (cleaner) and then I will use Eagle 1 Nano Wax and it works jsut as good as using 3 steps but only doing 2. Either way im sure it will look awesome!

Man all you have sweet cars!!! "Gunny Highway", I've never seen your ride, man what a absolutely beautiful looking car!!!! I personally have used Meguairs my entire life and just recently started using 3M products. I started using 3M producds at school and was extatic at how easily their products were to use... not to mention my results with 3M products are out of this world!!!!. You can get show car quality out of many products but I personally prefer 3M. That's just my opinion, others will tell you different. If you have lots of orange peel, you could use some compound... but provided it's cleared I would wet sant it with 1500, then 2000 grit ... 2000 being your final grit. Then go to "Perfect It II Fine Cut", follow that up with "Finesse It II". Then a good coat of wax. You'll be looking sharp!! They have some other polishes such as "Swirl Remover" They make it specific for light and dark colored cars. Even If I don't have "Swirls" I like to use it any ways. I feel it adds a touch of shine and wet look!

Good Luck!!
