Need opinions on a few cosmetic changes:)

Picture this:1986 T-TOP Canary yellow IROCZ,16" INCH RIMS off a 89 IROCZ.IT has 3 1/2 inch chrome exhaust tips.I am getting the windows tinted in the next two weeks sometime,t-tops 5% and the sides and hatch 20%(incoming light)pretty dark but not as much as 5% which is pitch black.I am getting new tires in the near future,I am undecided on white-letter or blackwalls, which will look better????And I want to get blackouts for the tailights,do you guys think this will look cool???I do??Any comments suggestions????

Car: 85 IROC-Z / 88 GTA
Engine: 403 LSx (Pending) / 355 Tuned Port
Transmission: T56 Magnum (Pending) / T5
Axle/Gears: 3.42 / ?
why the 89 wheels? The 85-87 style IROC wheels are a classic, and are available chromed, polished, 16", 17", etc. Millions of options on stock style wheels.

But for Gods sake, don't ever consider RWL tires on 16" or larger wheels. I'd ditch the coffee can exhaust pipes too.

Hey, another yellow 86 owner. Did you know that there was only 3915 camaros made in 86 that were yellow. I would like to see a pic of your car and compare it to mine. Mine is kind of a faded yellow look even though it is new paint. Anyways back to the topic. I would definately go with blackwall tires and get some nice shiny wheels. that would look sweet with your dark tint.

The 3 1/2" tail pipes look awesome. I thought they would look stupid - UNTIL I PUT THE ON!

Blackouts - NO

Just my feelings on the situation...

Car: Turbo Buick

raised white letter tires are a thirdgen fashion don't

as for the blackouts... eh.. I typically prefer the stock tailights on the Zs (if they have the checkerboard tailights) especially on a car thats not black

I have an 84 Z28 thats black and it had taillight blackouts on there when I got it and theres no doubt it looks better with them on there covering the silly looking stock taillights it comes with especially since the car is black to match the covers

I wouldnt do it on a lighter car though they stick out way too much

Let me tell ya what,

As long as you dig it, we should too. That's cool that you have a yellow camaro, and want to customize it a little. IMO, your off to a great start, but I wouldn't go for white leters. Other than that, your " 'roc " will rock!!

I just got my windows tinted, they look pretty badass,I am still undecided on the taillights,I am going to stick with blackwall tires, probably futura challengers from pepboys(I am only 17 and work at wal-mart so money is an issue),if it were up to me I would get toyo tires.

i agree, go with black walls, i have seen white letters on a 3rd gen and i didn't like it that much....also, i would have to agree with the post above, blackouts look nice on dark car (i have them on my black 'bird) but i don't like them as much on lighter cars...

there is a blackout post lowe in this forum and there is a picture of a white bird with them, there are also several pics of them on black 'birds in the body forum (including mine)....they may help you out in deciding about the blackouts....

and if i had the cash i would tint my windows too...

blackouts look pretty bad in my opinion. I won't put them on my car and they don't look good on any 3rd gens I've seen.

Raised white letters complememnt the rims only when the car has a painted rocker panels that complements other parts of the car. What I mean is, a monochromatic paint scheme car won't look good with RWL tires (i.e. an IROC). A Z28 with the silver ground effects look good with RWL tires. That's why Chevy had RWL on all 82-87 Z28's but all IROC's came stock as blackwalled.
