43k mile 1LE and I said to hell with it

I've had the car for 4 years. I bought it with 19k miles and she now has 43k. I blew the transmission up last year and said screw it. Time to change completely. Here's the current drivetrain specs that I now have in my garage waiting to go in. The body work is nearing completion as well.

4bolt 1pc rear seal 350 block .030 over
Eagle Forged / Balanced 383 assembly
H-Beam Rods
-16cc Pistons
TPIS Bigmouth Intake
SLP Siamesed Runners
Holley 58mm throttle Body
Siemens 60lb injectors
MSD 6AL
Dart Iron Eagle Heads (215cc / 72cc)
Custom Comp Cam
Int: .520 / Exh .540
Duration Int.236 Exh.248
LSA: 113
Blower: ATI P1SC / 14lb pulley
Transmission:TK600 (still have 600 left to pay before I can pick up)
Clutch: SPEC Stage III

Hehe...funny my brakes were noticed. I used good ol VHT on the calipers and PPG Single Stage OMNI on the engine bay. I dissambled the bay, degreased the bay, the used scrotch brite, then laquer thinner then some more scrotch brite and then laquer thinner again. Then I shot a hole quart of paint.

Moderators: Maybe this should be moved to Auto Detailing and Apperance?

that's going to be one kick-*** Camaro. I love the gloss black in the engine bay and the red hard-top. I prefer t-tops myself, but the whole package you have going makes your Camaro look like it's all business. What kinda HP and Torque numbers are you expecting to achieve?

The current wheels I have are 17" ROH Black Ice RT's. I like em although I already have my eyes set on my 4th set (18x10 rear and 18x9 front). My wife is pissed I'm on my 3rd set and not 100% satisfied. I'll be using a 749 ecm and with a really good tune were hoping for 700-750 hp at the crank. That translates to rougly 630 rwhp. The tranny and clutch should be fine, it's the stock rear end I'm using to break the engine in I'm worried about. I wont have the funds for a rear that will handle everything for atleast another 2 years. I've been building this thing for a year already and already 6k into it once I've paid for the transmission completely.

Yeah, the RT's are what are on my car now (the pic with my hood off and 1.5 feet up in the air on stands. I love them. It's my second set and I have to say I've never had quality issues and the prices are excellent. I'd pimp them to whomever was interested in a set of wheels. I used jdwheels.com If you're talking about the pic from the rear of my car with my Tahoe in the frame those were 1997 Vette wheels (17 fronts and 18 rears)

awesome 1LE! dig the RTs too
I was just wondering why you are still keeping TPI with such a screaming motor. I think HSR would probably be cheaper than modding the tpi and help your top end extreemly. Miniram is cool too but a little more expensive.

Camaro05, thanks man. I only stuck with TPI because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do for induction. I haven't tied the intake of my motor together yet. I have a TPIS intake, Holley TB, SLP runners so I could probably sell those for enough cash for a HSR. My ATI blower is making up for anything I really lose so looking semi "stock" is a nice thing and make that much power. We'll see, I probaly won't have it close to runnin until winter. Then I have to wait until atleast late April to be able to drive it where I live (30 minutes south of the Canadian border!!)

that's cool, the only thing I don't like about HSR is that you can't use a strut tower brace. And after having one I don't want to get rid of it. I guess that leaves me with Mini Ram.
good luck, can't wate to see more progress pics.

Tight Car !

Love seeing the work that goes into a 3rd gen. I did the enamel job on my ebay b4 putting the tpi engine in, it's really worth it isn't it?

Ah, the RT's, the black ice look is pretty sweet. Some day I'll buy those rims for this car or another, but first I'll be buying steel rims for the good year race tires for when we take it to the glen.

Best of luck with the rest of your build!

(the tpi intake is going bye bye soon for a mod'd lt1 intake, need some higher rpms.)

Anything left of the 1LE besides the RPO code?

Hehe, the interior is still the mint tan leather I bought it with. I wanted to keep the interior stock (did disconnect the airbag though). The only other thing I forsee changing exterior wise is a set of 18x10 wheels in the rear and 18x8 or 18x9 fronts. The ROH's were temporary.

Leather in a 1LE??

If it is a true low mile 1LE I would've found another nice car to do all that to.

It actually is a true 1LE. I didn't buy it for it keepsake. I bought it because I knew it was an extremeley solid foundation for what I wanted to do. If I wanted to get a geniune keeper I'd buy a 1st gen with a 427 or 396

I like the look of the early C5 wheels. How well did that wheel / tire combo work for you?
