Unique F-Body Colors
Unique F-Body Colors
I have a Red 88 IROC, I was planning to sell it when I got my Black 2001 WS6, but I've decided to keep it anyway and maybe do an LS2 swap next year. Anyway, I'm sick of Red, I constantly got pulled over in that dang car for the dumbest crap, yet in my late model black car I've only been pulled over once and it was because I forgot to turn my headlights on - so I am convinced that the color is bad luck for me.
I need some suggestions on a color that is somewhat unique, but doesn't stand out. No orange metallic, definately no yellow, no red's, and I hate maroon type colors. I was considering a shade of blue, possibly the navy metallic blue from the 98-02 F-Bodies, but I'd like to go with a non-F-Body color. My drag car is a 98 Ferrari Metallic Black, its a beautiful black, but I have 2 black cars I don't need a 3rd.
Some people have suggested silver to me - on later model cars I love silver, but I have yet to see a 3rd gen that I like in silver - all the ones that I see have the different color ground effects, or are the 82-83 body style with no ground effects and the odd looking front bumper cover (no offense, I just don't like that body style). I have yet to see a nice looking IROC in a silver.
Also with any color suggestions (or even better, photos), I'd like to hear some interior color suggestions. My interior is currently tan, I kinda like tan but I would prefer something lighter than the shade of tan the car came with, perhaps a "sandstone" kinda color, but I'd have to match the interior to the exterior too.
I was also considering a dark green metallic, or a dark purple metallic -- but there's just something about a guy driving a purple 3rd gen that doesn't sit right with me as far as it being my own car, but I do love purple third gen's. But again, these are common f-body colors, perhaps a special shade of blue/green/purple that is from a less common vehicle, like a ferrari, maserati etc would work well and be different enough to be somewhat unique without screaming "hey pull me over".

I didn't look long (or much beyond my C: drive)
I've known people with that color car. Not bad, but not me, I think I'd be happier with a dark color. I'd go for a rich dark metallic red, but red is what I'm trying to avoid. A year and a half ago when i got my WS6 I was getting so frustrated because all the ones I was finding were red lol.

Yeah, I hate red as well. Even though every single thirdgen I've had has been red. There's a camaro floating around here with a dark charcoal/gunmetal color that looks real nice.

I'm sure no one will like this but I saw one a few years ago that was neon green with black headlight buckets and black iroc louvers. I thought it looked cool and I guess it would be unique.

Mine's Pepper-Gray Metallic (a cross between gray and silver), and have had nothing but compliments on it. If you do a search for my name, I'm sure it will pop up. I can't upload a jpeg because I'm on a government computer right now.
Maybe someone else can? I posted a thread with nite-time, daylight and dusk pictures to help show the difference that light makes on it.

Here's a link to the thread. . . the pics are in the first few replies. It looks TONS better since I did the 3 step Mcquieres Cleaner System, but you'll get the idea.
It's also lowered now.

well i like a drak green metalic or a nice gunmetal but it tough to get a nice shade as posted before..
mine is cobalt candy blue which is very nice in the sun... and the more candy you go the more purple it gets so you can tune it to your likes.

I just didn't know the name of the shade. Beautiful car. this is the color i picked for my camaro because i have not really seen many thirdgens with this orange. It is a 2002 camaro orange metallic with an orange pearl over the white racing stripes....its hard to see in the pic but under good lighting its a really sharp color.

How about Dark green metallic from the 1992 firebird, or Dark Teal metallic from the 1992 Camaro RS? Love them both. By the way, when I was looking for my Firebird when new, I happened to see the RS with the Teal color, and all I saw at first was the color on the roof. It looked so good that I went to see what kind of car it was. It is awesome.

Medium green metallic gets my vote. Its on my '91 GTA and I love it. There are a lot of GM dark green colors out there but this one is the best IMHO!
