But 5% on the back deffy .

I thought it would be a problem, but it's not as bad as I thought it would be. You do get used to it after a while, I recommend it.

I had 5% on the back of my Trans Am before the window got broken out fishing. But I never had any problems with it being to dark...I still have to get it redone before i get the new system in.

I got 5% on mine, i can't see anything at all at night that isn't lit up. Pretty much if a car is there, i dont know it if the headlights are off. Backing up...yea ..thats tricky..mirrors/stick head out window.

Yeah went fishing and parked my car in the parking lot, and walked alittle ways away. All the doors were locked so they busted threw the rear window, stole the system, head unit. Broke everything in the process. Broke my rear panels, dash pieces, and glass in all my seats.

I would go 5% in the back. I though too it would be hard to see but you get used to it really fast. Its going to look really sexy with the back window tinted with a white car.

Perfect thread to find....

My car is white and gonna get re-painted white again when I am done with it.

I have my fuel cell in the back and a custom cover, as well as the back arms from the 6 point. I think it looks bad *** to see all that stuff through there.

Do you guys think I should tint, a little, 5% or none?????

way to steal my thread dennis, lol!

anyway, to answer your question, a roll-cage sticking out the back draws LOTS of attention. i know, i had one in one of my cars. it was lots of fun, but i never got any races because of it. people always steered away. i would tint it. here is a pic of my old setup:

so you guys say 5% on the back, what about on the sides?

i have very dark tint on the back of my window. Prolly 5...I say do it. I find it alot better. Because when ppl buy rediculously bright bulbs it saves your eyes....Its basically like flipping your rearview down. I dont know if it does it on your car but on my old t/a it acted like sort of a tint. It dimmed down the rear view. Dont go too big on the sides. Especially if theres alot of cops around who dont like thrdgens.

I guess Im one of the few that hate tint. When im driving behind a car that has tint, I want to shoot out his windows. If the car in front of you have really dark tint, its harder to see in front of him. If you cant see in front of him, then driving defensivly becomes harder. Though I guess most of you drive just for yourselves, and thats why there are so many "I got hit" or "I wrecked my camaro" threads. Im not saying that driving defensivly will eliminate all crashes, but it will surely put the favor into your court.

Basicly I was stating my opinion that I dont like driving behind cars with really dark tint, that it pisses people off. So you might want to go with whats legal in your city.

oh.....Not trying to sound rude or anything, but are you saying that you look through the car in front of you as you are driving all the time?

I have never herd of this and i have never got into or neer an accident either. And i do remember everything i did back in drivers ed and don't remember this kind of special driving being mentioned.

Are there a whole set of things you do to make your driving "defensinve"???

Just curiouse...

sorry, i make it a habit to not look into peoples cars...but hey, that's just me. most people will be able to see over my car before they can see through it.

First, I dont look INTO their cars, I look through. My car is so low (everyone on this board knows our cars are lower than most) so you cant really see over cars. I know I cant even see over fellow fbody owners cars, so to see in front of them, you have to look through their windows.

Defensive driving is where you not only drive for yourself, you have to drive for others. You have to watch what they do, antisipate what their going to do, and prevent whats going to happen before it does.

I have 5% all the way around and I like it. I don't drive my car much at night unless it is to the store, but I seem to see ok. I will post a pic.

do you have any pictures with the sun behind you instead of behind the car so there aren't any shadows?

I will try and dig some up. I replaced my front windows this weekend and have yet to get them retinted. I personally like 5% all the way around because it matches better. I will post some later.

I Have Limo Tint (5%) the whole way around.

It gets hard to see out the back at night at first, but after a week or 2, you get used to it.

Thank you. Yes it is illegal in the state of California to have anything over 35% in the front. Behind the driver's head you can run whatever you want.

I haven't gotten in trouble yet (knock on wood), and I doubt I ever will.

Honestly, I didn't like it at first. I thought it looked out of place on my car. Then I got used to it and now I would do it to any car I got, regardless of color. It makes the interior so much cooler in the summertime and warmer in the wintertime, it definitely keeps everything from fading too.

I have to agree with you. my car has had 5% for a long time, and the interior still looks almost brand new considering my car is almost 24 years old. I enjoy the dark tint.
Good luck and post a pic when your car is finished.

5% is illegal pretty much anywhere unless you have an eye condition with papers that says otherwise.

I haven't been to the eye doctor since I was in grade school but, I have had 5% on everything I've owned since I started driving. Been hassled 2 times by bored cops.

Wouldn't have anything ligter even if I didn't have crappy eyes though..
( I don't wanna hear jack about the hood either )

I have 15% on my car, I like the looks of it but it can make night driving more of a challenge when you are backing up. Its not bad driving down the road, its backing up in parking areas thats difficult to see. It gets to be a pain sticking your head out the window or opening the door to see....I'm going to go with 15% the next time I do the tint.

I have 15% all around but I have a black car with black interior. Looks way darker than it really is. Legal is 35% here in NC.

i went down and talked to the "good" tint shop in town and i'm going to go with 32% because that's whats legal in my area, and cops are going ape-crap on people with too dark of tint. and to be completely honest, i really don't like anything much darker than that 35% posted above, the others look like the windows got painted with black paint... now i just need to save up $155 ontop of all the other crap i gotta buy...anyone got an aluminum driveshaft for CHEAP?
