It comes out like four times a year, and you don't really want to see the concept picture. I would wait till it's more than just a picture.

In this month's GM Performance, there was a pic on the cover of the HotWheels car. There's a hotwheels out now that's made for the concept of the 5th gen.

I take it that you have all heard that GM will stop production on camaro/firebird in 2002? The final word, despite speculation, has come from GM, and plans for the LS6 was scrapped. A good artical and info of this, and all camaro's, including some very good info on thirdgen history, was in the March 2001 issue of GM High Tech Performance. Man, thats like takin' apple pie out of America. Ive done a lot of homework and reading on this, and have a lot to say, but Id rather not get started...

i feel you exactly, gregZ,
its a shame that GM kills their products when they are just getting really good, just like the demise of the Impala SS. I believe that the only reason that people buy more mustangs are because they are so crappy that you have to buy a new one more often, unlike an Fbody- where its so good, you wanna keep it for years...or .... those darn stupid women love to buy the ugly slow cars.

The same thing happened in the early '60s. GM's performance line will never die!!

Yeah, that drawing looks sweet, but you'll all have to remember that the car in that picture was drawn by a guy that works for Super Chevy, as was the concept Chevelle that is not in Camaro Performers (Duh). So don't count on that version seeing production, if there is a 5th gen (and we all hope that there is)

That is a great looking picture. As of right now I don't really care what GM does with the f-body. As sad as that sounds follow my logic here for a while. What has GM done in the past couple years? They have not come out with a TPI vortec intake. Haven't made a zz4 bottom end vortec engine which would be the BEST bang for buck. Haven't come out with a ohc or anything new for some years now. The LS1 is the best thing which I give them props for an awesome engine. Also look at the direction of the cars, example: Impala 94-96 short lived but brought back as a smaller front wheel drive vehicle. All these front wheel drive cars. Yes they have there place but not as a replacement for great rear wheel drive vehicles. I'm waiting for GM to introduce the next great truck...a front wheel drive version probably. Sorry if this sounds aweful but really I haven't been too impressed with GMs attention to the f-body. What's up with the RS having better/nicer ground effects than the z-28? Doesn't anybody else find that a little disturbing? It's like GM is out for only MONEY! They could care less now about "return customers" like me and my family (dad on second suburban, me on second camaro, mom from ford to chevy finally). Can somebody rip my head off because as screwed up as it sounds I need some help. GM is just depressing me.

One more thing: Syclone, Typhoon, 89tta, buick GN/GNX, and the zr1 vettes have to be the only true great vehicles and those are all pretty old now. The 454ss truck is where I think GM started the decline (until the vortec heads came out, kind of like a life saver for them). I mean the 454ss trucks didn't perform like a 454 should, small TBI system just wasn't working. Since then they've pretty much given up on the sport trucks. The only thing I like about GM is the new vette, thank god for the new engine and body design. Still though, the new m3 is cheaper than the z06 vette and is more advanced, it's a SEDAN...compared to a vette!!! Yes the m3 is killer car but still, the vette was designed to blow those cars out of the water (new Road & Track compares them).

, Jon (91 RS too many mods to list), getting new engine in summer

Camaro Performers is a yearly mag put out by the same people who do Super Chevy. Most of the articles are from past Super Chevys, but lots of cars that weren't featured in the mag. I usually find it at 7-11!

------------------
'68 Camaro - Vortec 350
'85 Camaro Z28 - 305 TPI - FOR SALE
'91 Camaro RS - 305 TBI

Here's the # to call for Superchevy, they can probably tell you about subscriptions to Camaro Performers (although it only comes out twice a year)
800-926-7904

I'm not sure I'd be sold on that yellow one as a replacement for the new birds. It looks like a customized Grand Prix almost. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, their concepts are often way different than the final product. Anyone remember that yellow concept 4thgen camaro that came out in the late 80's or early 90's? It was a far cry from the 4thgens we see today.

Alot has to do with the price im sure.

A base z28 convertable is 28k, while a mildly loaded stang convertable is 26k

i built an ss today on the Chevy web site.. final price of her... roughly $42000.00

FOR A CAMARO.

geeze.

i could buy a nice lexus for that pricee.
