Cleaning up the front orange running lamps

Ok so while the car is in storage I have been taking pieces off here and there to clean them up...and stuff. Well the front turn signal/running lamps need a good buff to clean the lense. What should I do? steel wool them? then what? I can't find plastic polish up here in Canada for some reason. Lemme know guys. Thanks

you could always make them clear, looks better IMO, there was a post either here or in body/interior a little bit ago and someone had a site that showed how to make crystal clear ones. (plexiglass and a new housing held together with epoxy) looked pretty sweet too.

Dont waste your time if they are that bad.buy new ones.after cleaning and trying to restore mine I broke down and bought new ones, man what a differance it makes.any rubbing on them just scratches them more.and when or if you do get new ones you will see why they dull and scratch so easy, they are poorly made and if you want them to last for more then a month use 3M protective film on them.

I went through the same stages. Believe me, I tried everything, then went ahead and bought new ones ($65 for the pair at dealer), and there was no way I could have gotten the old ones to look anything like new ones.

I replaced mine on my '89 and they look great now. By the way mine came from the dealer clear because the lamp is orange.

they are all clear lenses/orange bulbs.I agree that the cleaner works on the tail lights, but not on these. These take a worse beating then any lense on the car.

You can replace them relatively inexpensively at Next Generation or any other of the big places. (www.nextgenparts.com) or you can get plastic polish through Eastwood. (www.eastwoodco.com I think )

Good luck!

not all of them were the clear lense/ orange bulbe combination, I think it was only ones with GFX after 85, SC's, Berlinettas and early z-28's had the orange ones. My 86SC does, and the clear style doesn't bolt in so I'm stuck with 'em. Oh well though
