Tear Down
Tear Down
work began on the 91 last week, will update with pictures as it goes along.
*pictures are roughly 3 weeks behind but it will give you something to look at for now.
*reworking the fenders to tuck the 295's and drop as low as possible.

How did you get all this status?
Very very sweet car!
But I'm sure they did not pull you over on the road and say "I want your car in my magazine".
I would love for my 91 ragtop to hit the big time one day.... so what's your secret?
Other than money and love poured into you car!
How do the rest of us get some recognition?
I'm new to having a classic car. And the 3rd gens are reaching or at least starting to get some attention in that area.
Mine is in the body shop right now and about to make its grand appearance hopefully in March of this year.
New paint.... New Ragtop..... New interior..... new 17" TTII's rims wrapped in Eagle F1's......
Side note..... Guys..... buy the Goodyear Eagle F1's if you can afford it. They look NASTY on the car!
I got mine at tirerack.com at a good price shipped.
Once on the car.... look at it from the back end......
Just plain old NASTY!!!
I had two people stop me to ask "are those racing tires" when I was transporting them in the back of my seat in my Volvo.
The body shop put the rims and tires on the car.......
I got down on my knees about ten feet away from the rear of the car..... looking at the tires....... only thought was.... NASTY!
Big grin when ya got 245x45 tires reaching out 9.5" each tire.
Gotta love a good rubber.

Seeing as I've never seen you're car that dirty before and the gfx and other misc peices are removed, are we looking at new paint?
I don't see how you can find the time to build the 91 and 92 to "kandied" specs at the same time. But I'm sure you'll have one kick-*** pair of z's when you're done. More power to you jeff.

He has had the car back for some time now. From what I understand he parted the car out and sold the body to someone wanting to build a car and then they desided they didn't want the car and he bought the car back from them and dropped a LSX motor in it and a set of 19"in Boze wheels.
I think that sounds kinda right

lol... wow guys these are some responses huh?
yes i bought the car back and did was described above. yes the hood on the car is in fact one of the prototype hoods we are working on which will be availble shortly in mass production hopefully.
the reason for tear down is i had planned to just throw the car together and drive it, after 7 years the car needed to be freshened up a little bit so i'm redoing it again. nothing to crazy just cleaning it up real good.

put 7 years and more then a c5 into one and it will come on it's own.

It was an awesome car before the teardown and I'm sure it will be incredible when it's done!

thanks everyone. once the hood begins production we will let some photos out.
as far as the wheels they were on the car because of the fender modifications as well as some work to the underside. needed to test fit everything, the car is on 16" rollers now.
thanks for the kind words, i'll update when i can.

I feel kinda bad for buying your door panels considering that you ended up buying the car back.
Definitely not hard to tell that they came from Jeff's car..

I can't wait to see what the final product looks like!

the paint was good but it was 7 years old, just wanted to freshen it up since all the major modifications have been testfitted now the car will look that much nicer.
should have more pictures up after the weekend. all the pannels are off the car now and the drivetrain is gone. deciding if i want to go as far as throwing it on a rotary or just clean it up on a stand.

any new pics, i know how you are, i'm starting to get teh same thing i think within a year or two i might rip mine apart and change a few things here and there, certain things dont look as good to me anymore as they did before....but we'll see
heavy chevy?
been a very busy month, should have updates soon. hood is looking great. the smooth engine bay is coming along nicely and the body work is flat as can be. i'm very excited about it. i widened the fenders just a fraction to fit the wider tires and drop the car lower, gained roughly 1" and you can't even notice the fender work.
i think the car will turn out great, most of the work will be very subtle but noticed by those who follow thirdgens. we'll see..

Jeff,
Out of curiosity, what type of hood is this going to be? I mean there are already cowls, ss, ram air. Wait! Are you making a GT type hood with heat extractors?!?
