Need some guidance with detailing....

Hey guys- now that my car is all done and such, I need a little guidance with how to keep in clean and waxed properly and such. I have given it one waxing but it was with Meguire's Spray Wax....I wasn't real happy with the results. Now the pollen is falling like crazy and the black part is getting all ugly and fingerprinty. I got some Mother's Carnuba Wax this weekend and need some tips on how often to wax and what else I can do so I can keep it cleaner easier....or something like that.

Thanks!!

A good wax every 6 months will do the trick. Typically, I wait until my car looks like it needs it (aka when the water stops beading up and starts just running off the car). I'm not a big fan of paying huge $$$ for wax...but I do like my car to look good and have a long lasting shine. I've used both Meguiar's and Zymol with good results. I'm currently using Zymol and really like it.

When you wash the car, dont wash it in direct sunlight. If you have access, a few members use an electric leafblower to dry the car. A pure carnuba wax is good, just make sure you dont buff on it too hard. Use 100% microfiber towels to remove the wax.

I heard Meguiars #26 Hi-Tech yellow wax works very well on black.

There was hardly any beading of water when I was done with the first wax 2 weekends ago. Should I go ahead and wax it again? What's the most important part- waxing on or waxing off?? Everywhere I"ve read has shown to not do the circles but instead to do a back and forth motion which is what I did. Then I just used a terrycloth towel to wipe it off and switched it over and out whenever the spot I was wiping off with seemed saturated. I got actual applicator pads for the next time but nothing special for the wiping off.

i just use eagle one and mequiars products and the eagle one wax is pretty good and removes dirt in the paint and removes fine scratches. put the wax on wait for it to turn white when its dry then wipe it off with a clean microfiber cloth preferably.

Yes I'd wax again. For a fresh start- mix car wash soap, water, and dish soap to wash with as this will remove your old layer of goo. Then proceed to give it a fresh coat of wax. Always wash with microfiber or 100% sheepskin to reduce swirling. Always wash in straight lines. Fortunately you asked these questions before it was too late.

I also suggest visiting autopia, you will learn more than you will ever need to know there..

didn't this car just get painted...??? if so you're not supposed to apply any wax for 90 days at least....something about the paint still drying or letting out fumes or something.

You are correct, wax seals the finish. If you wax to soon you are preventing the paint from curing properly.

And like I said before, strip the old wax to start fresh before you start.
