Here are a few of the polishing projects that I have been working on for my 91 Formy.
First up is the tailight filler panel. Its half done. The polished side was hit with Flitz polish first and the I got on it with a soft buffing wheel and plastic polishing compound.


This was kind of a test buff first. I still need to sand the whole thing down to get rid of some deeper scratches and then rebuff it all. After that Ill sand down the inside and put in new graphics and repaint it.

Next is my throttle body plate. The pic kinda sucks but this is about halfway done. I need to get in around the lettering with the dremel to smooth it all out and finsih the polishing.



Finally, here are my fuel rails.

Both rails are done and on the motor. Next up is the rims which really need some help.


Once those are done I'll update my post. What do u guys think? Any tips? Especially for around the lettering on the TB cover plate?

What did you use on the fuel rails?

Work so far looks great!

 

I used a wire brush on a drill to get the dirt and corrosion off. Then I used tripoli on medium buffing wheel. After that I went to white rouge on a soft wheel to really bring out the shine. Thats pretty much it. Simple process, just a little time consuming.

 

time consuming is right, looking good, i polished my TPI and coated it with eastwoods diamond clear, it distorts the finish a bit, but theres no maintanence aside from a dusting check sig.

 

one word; zoopseal

look it up, buy it. its worth it!

 

I polished my fuel rails (was suprised at how easy they cleaned up) and they do not stay very clean very long. I have hard water here and it will leave stains unless wiped off, so in the areas you can't reach it is getting ugly again, so ZOOPSEAL is a great idea!

 

Yeah I need to get some of that stuff. Any local places sell it or is it internet only?

 

very cool...polishing takes a lot of time and upkeep but it looks soooooo sweet

 

Looks good, on polishing the plastics on the tailight sections i found that 1500grit wet sanding if its scratched then buffing with 3M plastic polish with a small 6" Coleman Orbital Buffer works wonders. Brings out a very nice shine. I have never tried to Flitz but it looks good..........jt
