88-90 IROCS on the SportCoupe and a sneak peak at the next Walter Racecraft project!

i picked up a 1988 IROC from my buddy Eric out in Savannah last weekend. i wished i had more time to start working on it, as it needs lots of love, but working 65-70 hours a week has me tied up for a while, which is also why i haven't posted up pics. since it'll be a while till the car is road worthy, i snatched Kuhmo 712 wrapped double line IROCS off and put them on the sportcoupe, check it out!

the IROC is a factory l98 car with a 2.77:1 posi disc 9 bolt. factory aluminum driveshaft and ttops. car has nearly every feature except for the delux interior. it's VERY well optioned. i'm very excited about diving into the fuel injection and learning how that stuff works. the motor does not run, but it does have a recently rebuilt Team Tripp 700r4. the motor has atleast a broke piston (found by Eric via an optic bore scope) and bent valve. so it's gonna need a new shortblock at the very least. it's already got a set of flowtech headers on it (which will most likely be taken off in favor of a set of hooker 2055's, or hedman shorties) as well as a rumored zz4 camshaft. we shall see

it's got some pretty severe body damage to the passenger side quarter right infront of the rear wheel. so much that currently, that door does not open. the person that owned it before Eric said it drove straight before the motor gave up the ghost, but it's going on a frame machine just to be sure. anyhow, i'll let the pictures do the talking!

yeah, i gots my work cut out for me, but that hasn't stopped me yet!

let me just give a HUGE thanks to Eric R from out in savannah for the awesome deal he gave me on this car!

hope you didn't pay much for that thing...

but the irocs look good on your sportcoupe. I actually just got a set of single stripe irocs sitting in the garage waiting for winter polishing and clearcoat removal

IROC is getting DD status once running/operating properly. then once the body work and paint are taken care of, i plan to sell it. the car was appropriately priced, no worries...

...here's a reminder of what the white car looked like when i brought her home...

/QUOTE]

He got a decent deal on it, I initially had bought it as a parts car but decided it was too nice to part out, the unibody isn't bent, hasn't got a spec of rust and I had a good passenger's door and the other parts to fix it. What I lacked was time, so I found it a new home.

man sharp project car, i wish i had a rust free car to start with...I'm reaping the rewards

...didn't they move the iroc decals to the rear of the door in 88?

my buddy has a white 85 SC (original 70K) and we've been eyeballing a set of late model iroc rims, he'll love those pics of yours.

That shortblock may not be that damaged, probably just nicked the #7 hole a little bit- as for those 2.77's, keep in mind that is a 145mph speedo, and the tall gears may help you reach it.

no idea yet. Eric looked down the spark plug holes with a fiberoptic boar scope and said he could see the wrist pin in #7, but we don't know what kind of real damage is in there yet.

On the damage to the door and quarter panel on the IROC my '83 is/was damaged very similar. The PO replaced the door but left the quarter pretty much the way it was after the accident.I've done some work to straighten it out and i have another door to go on(the one they used is rusted along the inner shell but they at least put the original inner door panel back on her).I've had the framed checked and a 4 wheel alignment done and everything is straight and square.Your's doesn't look like it was hit any harder than might must have been(unless the tire/wheel took impact too - which the wheel doesn't look like it did so you maybe ok).

I agree with eric the shortblock probably isn't damaged. It would be worth having a machine shop check it out if you can't.But overall you got a great car to have some fun with.
