Firebird clear turn signals

I know this has probably been asked many times before, and I did do a search but mostly everything I found was about Camaro's. My question is, are there any aftermarket clear turn signals for Firebird's or does it have to be custom. And yes I already checked out Red Raif's clear turn signals. Before I attempt it myself, I just wanted to know what was out there if anything. And keep "rice" flames to a minimum please

No clear front turn signals for the Firebird just the side markers/turn for the fenders (same as the Camaro). For the front you just have to make your own that's what I've done.

Care to explain your process of clearing them Firebat? It looks really good. I want to clear mine, or maybe black them out. Post some more pics or PM me a few.

Looks good, I was wanting to try this for a while now since I saw a prototype '82 Firebird with clear turn signals. I think they look good, and your's looks perfect! I'll be looking forward to a tutorial.

old pic

much newer (this pic has amber bulbs inside which is why it looks orange in color, but they are still clear)

Did mine a few years back bout the same time Shannon did with Raif. Used clear plexi. Coincidentally enough, I am in the process of redoing them since my friend cracked the lens.

Would be interested in your process since it looks different from mine.

Re: Firebird clear turn signals

Hey guys, I got them done about a month ago. The tutorial is coming soon. The key is to get a flat reflective lense with only horizontal lines to make it look like stock. I got my lense out of the inside of some taillight, which I'll show pics of in the tutorial. Plexiglass could work though and a lot of the newer cars(2006-07) have clear(no reflective lenses) front turn signals. They also have the front turn signals fully light up so they are superbright and it doesn't matter so much. You could rewire them so that both filaments light up in the bulb, if it bothers you. Another problem with plexiglass is a lot of the firebird stock turn signals don't have perfect chrome inside of them and plexiglass might expose that. I'm also using syvania blue coated turn signal bulbs. I'm going to get some LED bulbs though in the near future so there is no blue color in the lenses. Anyways, here's a pic of both sides finished:

Re: Firebird clear turn signals

Looks sweet...can't wait for the write up. I've got a spare set of turn signals in my basement that I've been waiting to do this on.

Re: Firebird clear turn signals

I started on the tutorial or "how to". I took some pics but can't find them. I have made a how-to the best I can with what I got.

The how-to-make-clear-turn-signals, my way:

Re: Firebird clear turn signals

WOW very nice job... i did this with my old 85 camaro but i used plexiglass... I like the olds tail light effect more than the complete clear lens... but looks GREAT either way
