Isn't that the Vette stingray scoop? There are a few people who have them, and made the functional, as far as looks though, well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Wow - that looks freakin' TOUGH in my opinion! Kinda gives the Camaro a "throwback" look, reminds me of some of the old "tuner" cars, like Baldwin/Motion/Yenko, etc...

Here are a few pictures of the scoop on my camaro. Yes, it is functional. Open at both front and rear with 14" open element air cleaner extended into the scoop.

Thanks for the comment. It was a project my son and I completed this summer. We wanted something unique but not to far over the top.

It's been several years since I've looked at one of their catalogs, but from what I remember, JC Whitney always had a pretty big selection of stand-alone scoops...

The one on my car came from Unlimited Products. It is the SC-104.

If you are going with an 14" open element air cleaner this would be the size you want.

I think it looks pretty cool myself, especially the example by alvinwie. perhaps a pic of it sitting on or taped to your car would help? it has potential, thats for sure, just make sure it doesn't turn out like my car used to be like; the previous owner put a 4" cowl scoop on (crooked, along with 4 holes from 2 sets of failed hood pins) . I'm still trying to nurse the hood to full health, so make sure you get it right the first time!

The car 1320_Guy posted is mine. I got the scoop from jc whitney. It was to make due till I had funds for a glass hood. My intake/carb/air cleaner wouldnt fit under stock hood so for the price it's better than just a hole in hood with air cleaner sticking through.

adampousson Mine aint that much smaller than the one you showed. Mine measures 36"L x 24"W x 3" high at front.

Mine was fully fuctional.

http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1139...41290424PLHEBY air cleaner sticking out hole before I put scoop on.

Here's some better pics of it after I primed the car, added 91Z rear spolier, and 91 side ground effects.. BTW I just rivited it on, didn't try to mold it in or anything.

Here's what replaced it... Harwood bolt on 4" cowl hood

Truthfully I liked the looks of the vette stinger scoop better than the cowl. The prob was the scoop I bought was the ABS plastic one and due to flexing hood, and high air speeds running through scoop on top end of track, it cracked in quite a few places.

I was gonna order a "big block" hood from ASCD cause it's in the same style as the vette stringer but it would not have gave me the clearance I needed for my induction system. I e-mailed Rex over at ASCD and asked him, he said the big block hood was only 2" at front and 2.5" at rear. My rivited on one was 3" at front and a reg. air cleaner wing nut rubed against the inside of it, so I had to use a std, reg 1/4" nut rather than the wingnut.

Re: opinion on scoop

I really like the way that looks and I need to remove the piece of **** plastic scoop the last owner put mostly on to my car. Where did you get that and how tall is it?

Re: opinion on scoop

A resurrected topic.

Big front facing functional scoops, depending how they are set-up, also make great scoops for rain water. If making this mod to a daily driver, be sure to keep this in mind.
