I love it when somebody specially ropes their car off at a car show. Like as if somebody's going to come along and try to hump it, or something. Nice car, not that special though.

That's the one- thanks for the pics.

Not that special eh? I though it's pretty awesome- the LT5 is quite an "exotic" engine,
not your garden variet pushrod motor.

When I win the lotto- I'm buying a LT5 for my
IROC.

Maybe because the LT5 was a quad overhead cam engine.

LT5 - Produced from 1990 to 1995 and was mainly used in the ZR-1 Covettes

* All aluminum alloy block
* Dual overhead cam heads with four valves per cylinder
* 375 HP initially, later developed to 405HP at 5800 RPM and 385 lb-ft of torque at 5200

LT5 was optimized for high-rev power - top speed of a ZR-1 Corvette, nearly 180 MPH

0-60 in under 5 seconds (at least in the vette)

Only 6,939 LT5 ZR-1 Vettes made from '90 to '95

Don't overlook the fact that the LT-5 also costs about $15,000.00 all by itself

Yeah...but it's nice to dream

I read a little history on the engine and
Chevy (or GM) kinda messed it up by
specifying 4.4 bore centres- (because every
other SBC had them-even though this wasn't a SBC) this meant smaller valves had to be used, reducing power.

405HP and 0-60 in under 5 seconds sounds like plenty of power to me!!

You know whats really cool about the LT5 is that in magazines sucha as car and driver and dupont reg. it placed the corvette ZR1 up there in the "SUPERCAR" elite group. Think about it, I read an article on some magazine and there was a shootout between the ZR1 and a Porsche 911 turbo, guess who took the overall win and cost 30,000 less??

In 96 the corvette GS featuring the lt4 was rated at 330hp and it cost $1,450(I think) over the stock vette price tag. The ZR1 option cost exactly $20,000. now it might seem steep for just 75 Hp over the LT4 but this engine is so wonderfull that with ridiculous mods( not saying theyre cheap ) you can make 500 streetable hp.

That is part of the LEGENDS OF CAMARO tour. The cars are museum pieces, so thats why they're roped off. Just FYI.

The Camaro Legends Tour was at the Pacific Northwest Camaro Club show last summer, but that car was not there.

Yeah, they seem to change cars sometimes. It's been to NASCAR Texas the past 3 years and theyve had different cars. Last year or the year before they had an '83? Z28 Pace Car. It was really nice
