How good of Gas Mileage for 305??
Hello, I am wondering how good of gas mileage my camaro will get with the stock L69 305 in it? What about me future mods coming up consisting of edelbrock TES headers, and a dual outlet exhaust with a flowmaster 40 series muffler.
thanks for the help,
Ryan

On my carbed 305 I get 24 on the highway and 19 in town. Not too bad I'd say. I'm attributing most of it to my 3" cat-back since that's about all that's been changed from stock. The rest could be good lubrication, I use Amsoil oil and just had the tranny and differential serviced.

I win. I get 24mpg city and have gotten 35mpg(average of 32) on the highway. Mine's a 305 TBI, very well tuned.
Good investments for performance and mpg. Open element to free the breathing and SLP exhaust catback and headers with catco cat. That would cost you about $1000 for everything and it runs like a champ.
Just a little off the appearance topic now aren't we?

I don't know about you people but my 86 TA 305 TPI get about 9-12 mpg in town. Granted I didn't tune it yet, but I burned half my tank just riding with some friends for an hour or so.
Don't let my opinion discourage you, even though I'm paying for my lunch with quarters thanks to the gas guzzling TA, I wouldn't trade it for any other "fuel efficient" car

damn, all your 305's get alot higher mpg than mine and I only have a 3.1L. I only get 11-12mpg in the city and 17 on the highway with 70,000 mi on the car. I know this post is for the 305 but is there anything I can do to make my mpg higher?

the 3.1 has a lot of restrictive parts that rob power and mpg.
The old tune up is a great way to get your car moving. Cap, rotor, plugs, wires etc will get you going.
If you want specifics on other improvements email me, don't use @email.com, use @hotmail.com.

You know, I guess this would be included in appearance, because your car can't be seen out stylin if you aren't rollin down the road....and those extra 2 or 3 MPG's give you an extra 2 or 3 miles to let people stare....
