White lettering tires
I was wondering if it would look okay to put these tires on my 89 formula.

Take notice to the white lettering on the tire. This is what I meant, would it look ok with these white lettering or should I get the regular black walls.

Re: White lettering tires
With the red Firebird that I used to own, I always went with the white lettering on the tires. Alot of it has to do with the color of the car. What color is your Formula?

Re: White lettering tires
Typically I'm not a fan of white letter tires on a 3rd gen. But there are exceptions. Here's one Camaro (sorry it's not a Formula example) that broke the rules and looks awesome to me . . .

I agree with Tampa Hurricane, a lot has to do with the colour of the car, and maybe the wheels too.

Re: White lettering tires
I have all black on my car, I bought it that way. I would go with the white lettering if I had a choice. I think all thirdgens look really good with raised white letters.

Re: White lettering tires
My car is red and for the most part, it seems like it would be okay to get these tires. Thanks.

Re: White lettering tires
You can always reverse them later. Although that might mean removing the tire from the wheel and remounting them and a rebalancing.
My dad used to say back in the 50's when everyone had whitewalls, that running with the whitewalls in made your car faster!!!! LOL
That joke was back when that style was competing with the hotrod kids.

Re: White lettering tires
Depends on the wheels I think. IROC wheels or most aftermarket wheels look better with blackwalls. The five spoke aluminum standard wheels or most steel rally wheel types look better with white letters I think.

Re: White lettering tires
Raised white letters on 15 inch rims are a traditional muscle car look and I think generally work on third gens but not always; depends on the rim and car. i agree with the post above that black walls look best on 16" Iroc rims. i have cooper cobras on my stock Z28 15s and I think they look pretty good. but my white letter BFGs look even better on the Cragar 15s on my 70 LeMans. I think those Firehawks are nice looking tires.
