I think cowls look great on 3rd gens. If by "ram air" you mean the T/A style, stay far away. They just look stupid on anything that isn't a t/a.

unless you need the cowl for motor clearance, the stock one looks best

Re: Ram Air hood vs. cowl induction hood vs. 92 z28 hood!

my answer is the 4 inch cowl from harwood the 3 inch looks dumb and the 6 looks like a whale.so either one 4 inch bolt on or louver z28 hood thats what i got but iam goin to put a 4 inch harwood on if ur lucky u can get it preety cheap from ebay.

4" cowl always seems like a bit much. if you go cowl, go 2". it is much sleeker. imo though SS is the way to go

I still hate seeing a guy with a 4" or bigger cowl then he opens the hood and it's a stock LO3, or something that otherwise would not require a cowl hood at all. My 4" glasstek hood, the air cleaner rubs on the front of the cowl, and I hate having a cowl that big but the motor just is that much taller.

Mine does the same thing, made it's own notch in the hood

On a Camaro I only like a 2" or 3" cowl you get to 4"s and it looks to big IMO. Ram air and SS hoods dont belong on our cars period! The SS hood looks sweet on a 4th gen camaro and the Ram air hood looks sweet on a 4th gen TA but I just dont think they work with our boxy square cars...I have seen the Ram air hood on a few birds with the banshee front bumper cover and they go alright with that style, actually improves the look of those cars IMO.

Hey I like your hood, I am going to get one of these soon, do you have pins holding this down or the factory latch? Does it shake or lift up when driving?

Re: Ram Air hood vs. cowl induction hood vs. 92 z28 hood!

If your not planning on making any major mods to the engine then I would stay with the stock hood, or find an iroc hood. I had the 4 inch harwood cowl hood on mine and couldnt stand it. It reminded me to much of the 1970s square metal hood scoops. Ive seen a couple of the ram air hoods up close and the pictures really dont do them justice.. When it comes down to it, your opinion is the only one that counts.

SS hood looks the best out of the 3 by a long shot.
