Polished stainless laser engraved rocker inserts
I got these put on toward the end of the season figured I give everyone a look, Chris from CE Coatings did the pieces for me, came out really excellent…I've been working with Chris on a lot of projects and his quality and workmanship is great, I push him to higher standards, He'll probably say I'm a pain in the A$$. If you have any questions PM Chris (TPI383), the install is very easy and only will take about an hour. Opinions Welcomed

Those look great! Just double sided tape and some stainless screws? Did you have to do anything to the plastic under the stainless to get it sit flush (grind down)? Or is the factory recess enough to have the stainless flush?

Re: Polished stainless laser engraved rocker inserts
it's not chris,, its all the people he subs his work out to.. he went threw alot of people when I was getting my parts done,, the first laser guy bailed on him and the press guy..I know it looks bad on chris but he doesn't have all the machines to do all custom parts.. when this happened to me I just told him go find another guy lets get going on it! Chris is trying to aquire all the equipment to do all in house I checked on the prices on this equiment and its in the thousands of dollars..then vendors he deals with do good for a couple of jobs then bail and make him look bad,, he has the resources to get the job done sometimes its the people that slow him down. I push him pretty had I my parts and If it isn't correct i'll haved hime redo them never had a prob. always took the parts back and redone them..If you pushing for one off parts and want quality as I do he can come though for you..I guess it comes down to if you want it your way and nothing else you push and push for it till you get what you want!...just my 2 cents..just remember don't pay for something your not happy with, I have not had chris tell me just to deal with it. Well enough of that I just wanted everyone to see the door sills I like them better than the full door sills with the break and roll to the inside I have seen in car shows in the past...maybe just to give everyone a idea so they can do something different...

Re: Polished stainless laser engraved rocker inserts
Looks great Jason.!! glad we went with the smaller lines. !!
Like jason said Its hard to find people to stick with custom or one off stuff.
1st laser guy did a sample. looked good. but the 2nd Run wouldnt take. Im actually GLAD as is jason because the next guy nailed the look 10x better.
CnC mills, lazer etcher ,etc.. arn't cheap as jason said. well into the 5figures for what Im looking to aquire in the future.(just the software is over 8k) anyways......
I have full res. pic's of how Jason put them in his car if wanted just let me know. I can have them etched with anything anybody wants also. and suppy all hardware to put em in.

I can vouch for Chris - he's a great guy to do business with!

Re: Polished stainless laser engraved rocker inserts
Ok guys heres a few PM's Ive sent out. This might get locked or my post edited but its easier this way instead of dozens of PM's. if it does get locked shoot me a e-mail...
Right now doing one off's for jasons car We have $200 tied up into them.. That makes me break even on material, cuting, rolling, punching the holes, hardware and having them laser etched.
Kinda high at the moment for most people I would guess. Mirror Polished stainless isnt cheap and is the only thing Id prefer to make them out of. Aluminum is too soft. Steel would need to be chrome plated to look good. (I'm looking for cheaper resorces for Stainless.) Right now I buy the cuts from a Guy I know and they come out of a 4x8 sheet.
If I could do say 10-20 sets I could drive the cost down on material/rolling/punching.(as I would just buy a full 4x8 sheet) But I don't think 10-20 people would want the same logo so the Price on that wouldnt come down much.
Let me know what you think ball park price would catch your attention/price range and I'll see what I could do. Looking for rolls of Stainless strip now instead of sheets also. Might be cheaper.
what kind of logos also...

Black88cam,
They really do look killer!!
I more I look at them the more I'm thinking of punching up my plain stainless sills.

Re: Polished stainless laser engraved rocker inserts
I cant forsee the price droping to $120 or Less.
UNLESS all of them were lazer etches with the exatc same thing.
I know I can get my cost on material down buy, Buying a complete stainless sheet and doing a up the hole sheet as parts.
Th ekiller cost is the etching the pieces. 1 at a time.
If They were all the same I could setup a file and do the 4 pc's at once and the 2 centers at once.
the middles will be a standard bowtie/bird for the cars. The 4 pcs can be anything wanted.
Im thinking chevrolet fronts Camaro rears with the bowtie
Pontiac front ?? rears those would have to be done on individual basis (TA,GTA,firebird,etc....)

Re: Polished stainless laser engraved rocker inserts
Andrews Racing has them for $140 but they are aluminum which I kinda like better and the emblems are engraved instead of laser etched they have 10 different designs but said for another $50 they can do any design. but then it puts the price real close to yours. but these are a complete replacement instead of an insert but to keep them looking right you have to trim the top of your original sill off. These are top notch pieces a friend of mine has them and they are really heavy duty pieces.

Re: Polished stainless laser engraved rocker inserts
reason I didnt do aluminum is its to soft. Scratches alot easier then stainless. And jason didnt want complete replacements just the incerts.
Ive seen the ones your talking about. They are nice pieces but they are also not what I was looking to do. I could have done those billet pieces as with the other billet products I do.
I just personally like these better for just a incert for a different look. Ive got a complete sill replacement in the works also.

I just want you to know I have been here long enough to read many, many reviews of his company, and that is the first one i have seen that was a big problem. He does a lot of custom stuff, (most of which I have seen looks SPECTACULAR, and if I need billet emblems, I'm giving Chris a call) and that sometimes goes hand in hand with problems.
