Louvered Cowl Hood?
I've been looking around for a louvered cowl hood, and the only one I can seem to find is the Daytona hood, which I love everything about, except the side vents. From what I understand, they're completely functional, but don't think they look great. I mean, they don't look horrid, but I dunno if I could live with them everyday. Does anyone know of any other cowl hoods that keep the louvers on the hood, or any way to make those side vents look better?

Re: Louvered Cowl Hood?
I'm looking for the same type of hood. I have a functional louvered hood. I want to find a cowl louvered hood and put the assembly into it but as you said the only one I've seen out there it the daytona.
P.S. I,ve seen this type of hood out there on Camaros so at least I know they exist I asked one guy about his, but all he said was that it was custom made

Re: Louvered Cowl Hood?
im thinking that on some of the daytona iroc hoods the vents are not cut out... if thats the case you could in theory take some fiberglass filler and smooth the vents out with the hood giving it that shaved look and then it would look smooth and stock. Just an idea -Matt

Re: Louvered Cowl Hood?
if I wanted to do all that, I would buy just a cowl and form it into my current hood if I'm paying 300-600 bucks for a hood I want it to come ready to install

Re: Louvered Cowl Hood?
your talking about the how the 2nd gen camaro hoods? When they accelerate the back of the cowl has the "flap" that opens up to increase air flow?

Re: Louvered Cowl Hood?
They exist...
Look for a Daytona hood, you'll find a few with the old style indentions in them.

Re: Louvered Cowl Hood?
Much. That's the Daytona hood with the holes filled in. Looks good. I know a guy who can do some 'glass, so I might start hunting after one and have him patch it up.
I know I don't need a cowl hood, but considering there's a dent on my hood, and a fiberglass hood would be so much lighter and cost about the same, I might as well.

Re: Louvered Cowl Hood?
If you can bolt the louvers onto that (I dunno, I haven't seen a hood without louvers on it yet to know what the indentations look like) then that is *exactly* what I'm looking for.

Re: Louvered Cowl Hood?
Actually, I saw a fully custom hood that someone should make from fiberglass. They cut along the two ridges on the hood, and put the cowl right there. HUGE cowl. Fits body lines, and looks amazing.

Exactly! If someone made that out of fiberglass, I'd buy it.

Re: Louvered Cowl Hood?
I know its not what you want to hear but I have the same hood as blue502 and it is custom built from fiberglass. It has the indentions for the factory hood louvers. Mine was on my iroc when I bought 12 years ago. I talked to blue502 along time ago and he said that there was only a few made buy some guy in oregon. Here's a link to a previous post. I imagine one can be made from a factory metal hood. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/cama...y-89-iroc.html

Re: Louvered Cowl Hood?
I couldn't tell from Blue502's site, but your pictures have exactly the line I'm looking for, though I'd ditch the indentations before the louvers and on the sides. Just like the simple cowl more. But that's exactly the cut I'm talking about. There is a place that makes one without louvers. Maybe take it and see if it's possible to cut out the louver mounting on the factory hood and glass it in. I guess anything is possible with enough time and/or enough money.
