I was looking into getting heritage stripes on my 89 RS and they look really really good, but I just recently bought a IROC hood, and can decide if the new hood will look "busy" with the louvers and the stripes. Anyone have pictures or suggestions?

 

sorry no pics but if the stripes are black they wont be bad but any other color i think the louvers stand out to much but i think painted louvers look ugly. Just my

Depends on what color your car is, and what color stripes you are doing buddy.

 

 

White body, black stripes, black louvers, and the headlight wells are black.

 

Stripes look ugly on Camaros. I wouldn't do it.

Well since it's my car I guess I could try.

They are Pacer wheels that were discontinued some years back. I can't for the life of me remember the type. I should as many people ask me on here. I know a few (very few) others have them. Maybe one or two others if I remember correctly.

 

Pull the louvers & paint them to match the stripes, if you didn't go with black stripes....

And I prefer full length stripes over short stripes...

 

I want those wheels now, if I could spend the money I would buy them off you if u would sell them, I finally found a wheel I like for a third gen.

 

I would say no stripes with the Iroc hood.

 

It took too long to find what I liked! I'll see if I can find more info for you so you might be able to find them.

does anyone have a real picture of a white camaro with black louver and black stripes that they can share, because i cant picture it ? or am i the only one crazy enough to attempt this, (dont think so, lol)

 

i would also say no with the iroc hood.I think they look good with anything but the iroc hood.Flat hoods look the best.just what I think.Have someone photo it for you.

Since its an RS i would remove the louvers, & keep them & put on some hood blisters, then put on the stripes.

I say do stripes but do something different...everybody has the 2 stripes that go from front to back, Chevy, Ford & Chrysler they all have them...be different!

 

not too much you can do with stripes without looking tacky.

I just snapped some pics with my cell, it is dark and raining so the quality isn't the best...but these are on an Iroc Hood.

I will be getting wider stripes to go behind the louvers, and keep the thinner stripe for the front of the hood. I laid used vinal, not paint, because I wanted to see what it would look like:

 

That would look sick it the stripes widened at the top to match the top part of the louvers.

Exactly...I now have a set of smooth loovers. I can't decide if I want to make them black to match the stripe, or go yellow to break it up.

 

My iroc hood looks great with stripes, but you have to do it just right to get the desired effect

I had the older style louvers on mine when first got it they were black in the red stripe,it looked good wouldn't paint'em to match stripe.

BUT

when I put on the newer style correct for the year painted them black on stripe they looked out of place,ended up painting them to match stripe and they look a lot better (see pic a few post above)

you can buy the heritage stripe kit( the one in the pics) seen them on ebay.

 

oh and just a heads up the newer ones are wider than the older style louvers.

 

can i get a few more, like straight on, pictures of to hood. With little glare if possible (your color is very reflectent, This is exactly what i was looking for when i started this post oh so long ago

 

That makes sense. They are black right now (came off of a black RS). So I might as well mount them to see how they look. Then I can paint them yellow if I don't like the look.

Yeah, they looked wider. But don't they still bolt up to the same holes? I am pretty sure that the hoods are the same. The hood blisters just looked like they would sit on top of the ridges that are next to the loovers, and that they would cover a slightly larger area.
