T-Top ? do they make a visor to keep out the heat

I have a 1989 RS with t-tops and was wondering if they make a visor for them or som kind of cover to keep the heat out.

Yes, t-top sunshades were a factory option, though a fairly rare one. They can be quite expensive if you find a set, but actually would be pretty easy to make your own out of stiff cardboard or thin masonite and some headliner material. The factory ones sat on the T-bar in the center and used velcro on the sides. I would personally make them to sit on the T-bar, but with tabs to slide under the plastic cover on the sides instead of using velcro.

Yea when I was searching for my IROC, I came across a dealer that had an 88 IROC and when I noticed it, it had one of the headlights missing so I think hmm like $30. Then I get inside and the interior is clean but it was stained with like a coke and what's funny is that no one cleaned it. They wanted $6500 I was like omg. But I looked up and I see t-top shades in like a whitish color to match the tan interior. I haven't seen an IROC with the "ORIGINAL" shades since.

I am going to make my own. I just ripped out my headliner and I am putting in an overhead consule ang going to put it a custom headliner (I hope I can). I was thinking about getting some cardboard, covering it up with the material that is the same color of the interior. I am thinking about using velcro to hold it up or putting turing clips into it. I also thought about using a window shade. I was thinking about putting it into the headliner it self, so it is hidden. Will post a picture when photo point site gets back up.

if you order the headliner material from the paddock it comes with some extra thats just enough to cover some thin plastic or particle board.Looks great to.

I still have my original shades in perfect condition

I also have the original T-Top bag.

From what I hear, my stuff is pretty rare

My sister ordered some t-top shades for her 4th gen Z28 from the dealer so I know that they make them for 4th gens, but I still haven't asked about them for 3rd gens, I"ve been meaning to for a while now, just never got around to it. I think hers were like $70. I want some though I know that. My t-top bag is in perfect condition too, you say that's rare? I didn't know that.

You might still be able to get them at the dealership, but I didn't even check availability after I saw the price... $115 EACH. The factory set in my 91 Firebird are cut so the outside edge slips under the plastic molding of the ttop, the inside corners are held to the top with small round velcro patches.

What if you just put another layer of dark tint on it?

future mods:
SLP headers, completely done over suspension, black paint with flames, NEW PLAN IN THE MAKING:
BUILD A WILD CHEVY 302 JUST LIKE THE ORIGINAL Z28 HAD

Don't tint t-tops more, unless you want them to explode. Remember that black holds more heat, and if they don't get hot enough as is... well, they will very insanely hot w/ an extra layer of tint.
