I Made Up my Mind: I am buying the Ram Air SS Hood

only a couple people know why I am saying this, but I am buying the hood. It is going to look sweet and this wuss at work is going to wet his pants when my car looks and is quicker than his. Sorry just needed to be said.

Also if anyone has any pics of the hood on a car, please post.

How much money does the ASCD SS hood cost with delivery to my house in illinois? I have about 600 to spend right now, i think my engine is going on hold right now.

it will be just about that much.
its 525 plus 75 truck freight i believe
and if you need someone to paint i work at a body shop and i can get you a d*mn good deal. i work in davenport about 20-30 minutes from you. and i want to see the hood in person to inspect the quality.
and it would only take one night to paint and install they would bake the paint and then you could drive home, and while they are doing that we could buff the rest of your car, i am the buffer at the shop. that way all the paint matches, all nice and shiny.

just an idea.

go through www.thunderracing.com, they have the same ASCD hood for much less than ASCD now offers them.

rare rockz-sounds like an idea, but mine still camaro still needs a paint job, how much prep work is needed on those hoods and do they just bolt on? And do you know if they come functional?

well man we can get your hood painted and make the rest of your car look decent.

and it matters on the individual hood, 90 Z28 SS's hood was perfect but others say that they had a few hours into prepping.
they do bolt on and are NOT functional.
to each its own.

actually, since yours is carbed, it would be partially functional. The carbed ones at least are open in the front, so all you'd need to do is construct an airpan to route the air to an open element filter.

They are functional on a carb or TBI car. Unless you make some kind of box to seal out hot under hood air then it is more of a "cold air hood" rather than a ram air hood.

I have one, which I am probably going to sell. I haven't even put it on the car (its a good quality hood, I just need the cash more than the hood right now)

Mine is functional. they are 475 from ASCD and 75 freight to your house or 50 to a buisness. I know the website says $525 but that includes shipping.

I WOULD RATHER PUSH A CAMARO THAN DRIVE AN IMPORT

1983Z28 350w/ edelbrock performer RPM power package , dynomax shorty headers, 700R-4 with shift kit, 750cfm carb, edelbrock 3" exhaust system, 16" IROC rims and ASCD SS hood.

future mods:
SLP headers, completely done over suspension, black paint with flames, NEW PLAN IN THE MAKING:
BUILD A WILD CHEVY 302 JUST LIKE THE ORIGINAL Z28 HAD

I just recently recieved and put on my SS hood. They are kickass... Other then no place for the hood spring other than custom installing it the hood is well worth the $500 bucks. I do have one little problem and that is my passenger side wiper hits the hood, i'm going to have to notch it just a little bit before it goes to the body shop but thats no big deal really...
