In that photo all those are are covers that you buy. Tinted or smoked taillights are painted. You sand your lights with 800 grit, then you spray over reduced black basecoat on them to your darkness you want, and then you clear them.

Re: Smoked Taillights?

Spray on VHT Night Shades....It'll give you then same looks, for the fraction of the cost of having a body shot do it, or even buying the reducer, paint, & clear yourself....Not to mention. Do you have a god compressor & body paint gun to spray that stuff?

VHT Night Shades is the home-method & can look just as good.

Re: Smoked Taillights?

Hawk's thirdgen = overpriced and a half.

I have the blackout covers for my lights. But they're for the Camaro, not the firebird. I don't know if they make covers for 3rd gen Firebird? Not sure. But I got them from Ebay Motors for 39.95 + 12 for shipping. Just search up (Car name) tail light cover

Re: Smoked Taillights?

Isn't there a black film you can purchase to stick on the tailights? To save the hassle of having to purchase blackouts as well as the work it takes to sand and spray?

Re: Smoked Taillights?

I once painted the inside of a lens on a previous car with a rattle can, worked fine, neither pealing nor fading occurred as time passed. Sure to use fusion paint for plastic by Krylon.
