How do i take the belt moldings off my 88 trans am and where do i get new brackets

How do i take the belt moldings off my 88 trans am and where do i get new brackets

I'm almost done taking my car apart and getting it ready for its brand new paint job. The only thing is i want to replace the belt moldings on my doors how do i do it do i need to drop the glass windows. If anybody knows let me know also i need new metal brackets for my ground effects. If anyone knows where to get those i would appreciate it very much Thank You

i dont think you can buy new brackets, ive never seen them. junkyard is probably your best bet. on another note, not to be a **** but does your info thing say you have a crate 350 "boarded over 30"?

If your talking about the moulding on the door and smaller pieces on the fender and rear 1/4 panal..thoses are held on with double sided tape..Which brackets do you need?I may have a few around.LMK

The door ground effects don't use brackets. They are fiberglass and have studs screwed into them.

Every part of the ground effects has a metal bracket that's the flaw with this model because when you take the ground effects off they could be deteriorated. The studs are screwed into the bracket and the ground effect to keep it together better

The 85-90 style Trans Am door ground effect pieces don't use any type of mounting bracket at all. The studs screw directly into the fiberglass. If you've got a metal bracket behind them you don't have the original ground effects on the car.

Only 91-92 Camaros and Firebirds used metal brackets on the door ground effect pieces.

i think he might mean the rocker ground effect which do have a bracket behind the door, mine do anyway.
