Painting front control arms
Thinking of using a product similar to POR 15. The problem is I don't want to use black if I don't have to. The website and the literature say that it is UV sensitive. My question is: Has any one used a color other than black and how is it holding up? I can see how some reflection from the road would hit them but wondering if it would really discolor them.

Why not just paint over the top of whatever you're using? Then you wouldn't have to worry about fading and you'd have the color you want.

Another option is Eastwood Rust Encapsulator. It comes in a couple colors, and seems to be good stuff. My father brushed it on to his rusty plow frame, which obviously sees a LOT of salt, and so far it's holding up nicely.

por 15 is UV sensetive, but it wont fade under your car. to keep it stable, use the topcoats they offer that bond to POR 15. the topcoats are available in many colors. POr15's website is very detailed, check it out. Por 15 is great stuff, but if you read all the threads here you wil see that the key is following the instructions ABSOLUTELY!!!

check out SEM Rustshield available in colors I like it better than por 15.Also has an optional hardner/gloss enhancer that will protect it from fluids and uv fading.

Finished with them. I used KBS Rust seal, silver color after having them sandblasted. Talked to the company, they said the color has moderate UV stability and would be fine.

looks nice! I suspect KBS is actually the same thing as POR 15. Ive used POR 15 for a long time, always interested to hear the results with all the new similar products.
