I really love the the look of the black in the recessed area in front of the headlights. Is that paint or plastic insert? They make all those blackout covers that cover the whole area, Seems like they could make a piece that inserts and gives the blacked in factory look.

hey guys i also like the eyeliner on higher trim camaro's, but my rs doesn't have it and i was thinking about painting it myself, can anyone help me out on this? tools? supplies? step by step process? anything would be helpful thanks!

 

i painted mine with the black bumper paint designed for painted flexible panels

yes I did... I masked it off with that blue fine line tape from 3m.

not to the bare rubber (in most spots) but I did sand out the scratches and make the paint smooth. I put on several light coats so it didn't run but thick enough to stand up to buffing
When I was done, I used a rubbing compound to make it shiny. It's not full gloss, but it looks good, even up close

the paint job is just a cheap and easy rattle can job I did until I finish with the Impala in my signature, then I'm going to do the entire car over again in BC/CC

 

I had the shop paint them when they shot the bumpers. They were more of a flat black from the factory, but I went with a high gloss and never looked back.

 

Yeah, factory they were satin IIRC.

 

How much (if you don't mind me asking) did the paint shop charge for the job?

 

I had it done when I worked at my local BMW dealership, paid a couple of guys some cash and they sprayed it after my buddies and I finished the body work. It's BMW #300 Alpine White. I'll post some more pics when it's all back together.

 

Does anyone have the GM Paint Code for the Black in the headlight recess area?
I'm having my bumper repainted and wanted to get the color / finish correct.

 

it's a good question, but I would think that any black semi gloss would do a great job.
