I myself get a little shaky at 80-90.

It does look a little ricee, but only because it is overdone on cars that can't reach speeds where it is effective. Yours actually has function, so you have a reason to use it.

 

I know you'd probably won't believe this but I've been in my dad's car which is the 1984 Trans Am with the 85 305TPI, 700R4 and 3.73 that had the same wing I have. my dad took me for a ride in it and just blasted it down the freeway and topped it out at 175mph. Some way not believe it but I was in the car when it happened and it was a joyful time.

 

It's actually amusing when my father tells me "Your car does look like a Trans Am, just ricified" Haha

I drive a 1988 Formula (305 TBI).

One person asked me what year my Camaro is. Another asked me what year my Corvette is. One person (trying to race me in a V6 later model Cougar) asked "Is that a V6 or a V8?". My car has the Formula decals all over it. Darn ricers!

Do you know how much drag there is at 175 mph? Would take more power to get to that speed then that 305 is going to make at 6000 rpm.


Back on topic. Most of the time the first thing anyone asks about my camaro is "When you going to paint it?"

 

To get a 700r4 with a 3.73 rear the motor would need to spin 6200 RPM in 4th, Not gonna happen.

Sounds like he needs to fix his speedo gear.

 

Their was NO TPI in 84...TPI AND computers came out -in 1985-.

 

It's an '84 with an '85 engine swapped in.

 

another thing is that the speedo would only go up to 140 max in any thirgden, so i mean how would you know?

Your car has an ECM (Electric Control Module A.K.K EFI) for the carb....

 

I will never do it again, but I had my car just shy of 150mph... It was a stupid risk, and I look down on myself for doing it. Confirmed by Nismo 370z that was tagging along... 5th gear on my old T5 tached up very high.

 

I was at a cruise in a couple of weeks ago and a guy that was driving a first gen firebird convertible came over. He asked if my convertible was factory? It's cool to see third gens getting taken care of in other countries. They're pretty hard to find where I live, especially in decent condition. A lot of them just sit because they were drag/restoration projects that the owner didn't have the time/money/patience to finish.

This is very common in my area unfortunately, they beat there cars to sh** too

"What kind of Iroc you got ?" - Pretty common unfortunately i don't have an iroc

"Is it Fast?" - Well actually the factory decided on the acronym RS for Really Slow..

"Is it Manual ?" - I had a manual z28, but its nice having a free hand while it lasts, putting a T56 in it with crate motor.

"You should Slam that Thang!" - Civic bangers

"YOUR CAR SMELLS LIKE SH**" - I often gun it in front of ricers at a stop to get that unburnt smoke in there AC or if they have there windows down, No cat, smell crap.

I've never had anybody really ask anything while driving near me, its usually just a head nod or there just staring with that envious/'screw you' look on there face, anyone else get that ever ?..

I've had a whistling horn too in my car since before i owned it, so i always have to set it off when i see a cutie, Ladies.
Other than that i only set it off for people that mug on the street with there 'tough exterior' usually generates a questionable response out of them.

ok first off let me say that there are not many third gen convertibles in my area at all so...
them: what year is it? me: 1992 rs
them: whats in it? me: 3.1 v6
them: THATS A V6? me: yes, yes it is.
Then it never fails to happen!!!!!!!
Them:HOW MUCH YOU WANT FOR IT? me(in a calm voice) its not for sale.
And of course when i was in high school and pulled into the parking lot the same 2 questions everyday from the same people.(including friends and the police officer at the school)
Friends: how many tickets you got now? me: none
Friends: how?.(because as my friends trey and micheal learned the hard way coming back from a party) you always speed everywhere. Me: well it does help out when you work on the side of the road with the cops and they cut you breaks...XD

This thread is awesome. I always get the usual "305 or 350" or "auto or stick". My favorite is when someone who thinks they know these cars tries telling me things that aren't true. "I had one if these years ago and it ran 12's stock" or something retarded like that. its always something so dumb I just have to shake my head and smile.

People always ask if my Z28 is an Iroc. I stopped saying no and resorted to just walking away. Not trying to be mean, but theres a reason its says "Z28" on the front, both sides and back and no mention of Iroc.

 

I get pissed about that, I have a base firebird and people keep calling a t/a, while it is an upgrade for my cars image, I get mad because there is a substantial difference between a t/a and a base f-bird.

 

I can understand that, but what really gets me is when people call my Trans Am a Camaro..

 

I usually don't let model confusion bother me. I'll correct them every time
and talk to them about it. The only time I got annoyed was when some punk said "Ohhh out in Daddy's Ferrari in a condescending tone. I told him he'd look less like an idiot if he could tell the difference between an 83 Camaro and a Ferrari.

 

We have a lot of street racing and all that around here, so I guess I get a little more frustrated than I should when people don't seem to know anything, but we don't have too many Ferrari's or Lambo's around here, so I guess that would **** me off even more.
