It happens when I'm by the car or getting out of it, never in it. I'd feel like a douche just staring at them and walking off.

I usually get the "is that thing fast" or just a nod. One thing Ive noticed though, EVERY other Camaro or Firebird driver I see, any Gen...even new... They always give a little wave when I drive by, how cool is that? I live in a fairly small community, and most people drive trucks and SUVs, so I dont see a Camaro or Firebird that often, especially 3rd gens.

 

I wish I'd get that. Most people around here wouldn't know a thirdgen if it rear ended them..... Its all little ***** boys and girls that drive f bodys around here unfortunately and I'm pretty sure they only know what a fourth gen looks like, no other gens.

I always get asked "You know you could have bought a new car for that amount of money, right?" AHHH, nobody gets it that I WANTED an older car.

 

Every time I'm at a car show with my 91 Z, a guy always trys to be cute in front of his girlfriend, "what year Iroc-z is this I used to have one?" dumbass it says Z28 all over the car!

 

I get compliments pretty much anytime I take my car somewhere. The question I get the most is "What year is that" I tell them its a 1988 and they always go are amazed and say it looks brand new! I just go and rev it up. Another one I get a lot is people saying that they used to have a car just like mine back in the day. only it was two tone and didn't have badges but they still called it a GTA...

Usually, the first question is "Do the T-Tops leak?"

...but sometimes it's more interesting than that...in the rust belt part of the mid-west, third-gen's seem to be pretty rare.

Which might explain the following...

"What kind of exotic car is it?" asked by a teenage girl who'd never seen a 3rd Gen before but thought it was "pretty".

"Is that one of those new Buicks?" by a drunk 20 something year old guy.

"Is it for sale?" - I got this a couple of times. One guy actually ran after me to ask me this.

"What year is it" - the usual... A bit hard to explain it's a 1986 made into an 82-84 replica...

I hardly ever get asked about the engine. But when i mention V6 I get "no way!" or "no, REALLY, what engine?", LOL

well, due to the count of camaro's and firebirds in my country.
I think the total number will be lower then 300.

I get 3 questions a lot.

1) the people who don't know it
"Nice car, what is it ? "

2)the people who think they know it.
"is that a firebird/mustang ? "
( firebirds where always more popular here then camaro's, specially the banshee nose models )


then they almost all go to the next question.
3) what kind of engine it has.


over here, most other US car drivers, dont matter if its mopar or blue oval, they all blink there lights to eachother/ raise a hand, do a honk, or we drive next to eachother on the freeway checking eachothers ride out. ( some drivers just dont get it, but they are mostly the richer people who just wanted to drive a new car ( escalade, hummer H2/H3, corvette C5/C6, avalanche, dodge ram ) there are not enough american cars out here to pick fights among eachother, se we US boys need to stick together

This reminds me of a guy that was up at an import meet that me and my brother stoped at back when my brother owned my camaro. He looked at the motor and got the most confused look on his face when he saw two valve covers. Then he seriously asked us how we put two motors hooked to one crank in there

Thats about it for questions. I get a lot of comments about how nice it looks.

 

i often get compliments on my car . i tell them its not just a car , it's my baby . asked what year , how fast , etc. . a few times if it's for sale , when i say no most reply too bad . one guy asked what i would have to get for it , i told him you would not want to pay . he replied don't be too sure ( he was not a kid ) . when i said 12K he said i would ask that if it were mine . oh well , just my comments .

 

I had a few kids at school tell me I had a super sweet corvette as well lmao.. It does look like a corvette I think, so I cant blame them..

 

yea i got the corvette thing once from my gf -_- when we first met..now she knows everything from the engine to the rear ratio..haha

 

I've been asked what year is it? How long have you had it? What engine? Is it a stick/it's not a stick? Is it for sale? I was asked once by a gas attendant at a station with a garage if it was a 4 or a 6, and just recently - oh, is that a Nissan? I also get plenty of complements too.

And then my favorite - when I've been pulled over for having tinted windows... is this yours?

But i was at a cruise in yesterday and a guy told me it looked good and asked me if id had it since it was new in 85. i said no (born in 1990) But it made me feel good about my car.

 

not really much comments exept for friends that iv showed pictures of the car to and friends that drop by. Iv got a few times asked if it was a lamboghini or ferrari, and of course to screw with them i said, yes. lol they belived me to. Everyone loves the car at my school (Middle school)

when im out in my thirdgen i always get what engine is in it?? its got Formula 350 and 5.7 Liter in very prominent locations. along with what year and the occasional nice trans am. i stopped correcting people on the transam thing i generally get looks of confusion. another common question is "what ya want for it??"

i get more "what car is that??" when im out in my 01 TA than anything. had a guy yesterday at the quickie mart ask what a WS6 and ram air was. i also get a lot of "is it for sale??" with the TA.

i don't drive my car much on the street any more. i do however drive it to the gas station when it needs gas (depends on how often i take it to the track). i normally get asked things like " how many gallons to the mile?", or "what's it run?". i occasionally get the "BBC or SBC?" which i respond "small block truck motor with a carb". of course if they're lucky enough for me to pop the hood for them, i have to explain the ls series of engines as most people don't know why it doesn't like the 350 in their truck, or the 454 in their uncles chevelle, lol.

i almost always get the "holy s**t" jump when i start the car to leave the gas station

I wouldn't be to hard on those questions. At one time i'm pretty sure the IROCs had Z28 emblems all over the car and IROC decal on the doors. A z28 is pretty close to an Iroc as is a GTA close To a Trans Am. To a none inthusiest that is close enough. Its not lke he called your Z28 a Formula.

 

I always get "is it for sale?" and everytime i reply "money talks" lol

Other than that its "nice car." One time i was at a show and two little kids saw my bottles in the back...they had the funniest faces haha, musta watched fast and the furyest lol
