The first thing that people ask me is, "Is that for sale" and I tell them no. Thats about 90% of the people. The other thing people ask me is "what kind of hood is that and where can I get one" I tell them good luck finding one since its a custom hood.

T/A is my second thirdgen, it's a rather exotic car here, and through all those years when I have f-body I've heard a lot's of questions, some of them was stupid, some not (thank god there are also peoples that know something about these cars )

this are asked most common:
first - most important thing is: -How much fuel this car consume? ( because of rather expensive fuel prices, around $ 1,50 / liter acording to latest currency exchange rate)
- what's the engine size? and is it V6 or V8 ? Is it HEMI?
- Is it possible to buy spare parts for this car in the country? are they expensive?
- How fast will it go?
- Engine power? sometimes ppl can't belive, that the engine makes under 200 hp from such a big displacement
- How much is this thing?
- Why it has automatic transmission? (sport car must have manual! )
- Is it made from "plastic" ? (because it's often mistaken with 4th gen)
- Oh s*it! look it's KITT from knight rider ! (man I hate that )

but other than that peoples likes thirdgens...

I got this comment once myself. I was astonished.

What I mostly get, after they ask what year it is and I tell them: "Did you restore this yourself?"

When I say no, it's all original, I just get puzzled looks. People have trouble comprehending or believing that an 18-year-old car can only have 9K miles on it.

My biggest frustration at shows is explaining the 1LE package to people who have never heard of it (which is most people). I typed up a list of the special components of the package and tape it on the window next to the window sticker at shows, plus I display a couple of vintage 1LE magazine articles in the hatch area. This clears up a lot of the mystery for most folks.

At one show I heard a guy tell his young son, after reading the 1LE information: "This is a very special Camaro." That made my day.

"you know, you could have have bought something new right?"
"that thing looks mean! whys it got a chevy emblem thingy?, i thought it was a stang"

my girl friend "you wouldnt really kick me out would you?" (yes, if you dont respect it)

once again my girl friend "you know, as much as you spend to 'fix' it.. you could go buy a new car"

and my favorite "how fast have you gone??" (dunno, my speedometer only goes to 85 dipshit)

 

This is all after my fresh engine build and mods in the sig. His car has about 60k original miles. Its clean, just that its a ford.

My buddy with his 93 LX 5.0

"You should a gone with ford man, your engine is fugly."

Then we raced later that day. My response:

"Should a gone Chevy, your Fords ****ing slow."

 

just the other day I got the "Why don't you get something newer" while explaning what I wanted to do to the car...(The car isn't running or anywhere near me right now)...

 

ok so when i was driving by the college earlier, this dude in a 4th gen pulls up with his buddy and says haha look its mycars little brother! i didnt bother to correct his stupid *** and tell him my cars older o.O

 

I'm one of very few teens in my area with a classic muscle car
People always want to know why there's a car like it in the student lot.

 

Now since my car is painted black. In two days I've had SIX! KnightRider comments.
2 of "Is that kitt?"
2 of "Wheres the red light?"
1 of someone telling me it doesnt look like Kitt
and 1 asking me if it talks.

It's not KITT! Its just a black firebird.

 

apart from the usual cost questions

"so do the doors go up?"

"hey thats a delorean right?"

most the time i dont really get questions, driving around from afar i only tend to hear part of things like "WAN..." or "HEY DI...."

 

The number one question I get from everyone is "Hey man, when you gonna get your car running?"

Pisses me off half the time since I can't work on it 24/7 (wish I could )

I just started tackling the engine bay harness so that I can paint the engine bay.....I can see many cut knuckles and fingers in my future

 

When somebody shouts out there window at as stoplight "What year is it ?" I shout back " August 2010, Where the hell have you been" .

 

Whats in it ?
Is it fast ?
Then there's "Get On It" I just say cant ,my "get on it" days are over. (I have found that my car draws enough attention with the cops as is.They have this little thing called exhibition of speed )

 

In this order.
1. Does it run.
2. when you gonna paint it.
3. How much you want for it.

 

Different types of people ask different questions:

People who know nothing of these cars/teenage wanna' be racers:
- Does it have a 350 in it? (yes it does, but that's not original - they seem puzzled by that)
- Why have you got your hot rod out today? (hot rod? Just a nice day for a drive)
- Are you going to paint it black?
- Why is it leaking fluid? while waiting at a stop light (recently needed some work done - getting it to mechanic)
- Is that a Ferrari? (yes I have had that said to me)
- Is that your car? (I work at a school, the kids are funny)
- Is it fast?
- Want to race? (usually involves revving of a small 4 cyl *****)

Girl friend
- what are you doing to the car now?
- Why do you have to do it yourself?
- Why do you spend more time with the car than me?

People who know a bit about these cars:
- Does the A/C work? (used to, stopped working 4 years ago, I ripped it out 1 year ago)
- Why did you change the engine? (I got it with the 350 Chev)
- Are you selling it? (are there for sale signs on it? I had the headliner redone, every 5 minutes one of the guys there would ask me if I wanted to sell it. Got pretty annoying)

 

First time one of my buddies saw it I gave it a good rev and he goes nuts,

"OMG I think my honda civic just pissed its pants!" and then,
"can I borrow the keys for a sec?" I say no and then the begging starts in,
"Oh c'mon man just around the block I wont go real fast or nothin" ha ha ya right...and then the final attempt,
"I'll let you drive my civic" ha ha NO!

 

I forgot to add that some people has ask me is that a corvette.

I literally spent about 8 hours poring over 35 years of auto paint chip catalogs, trying to find something that wasn't the "same old, same old" Camaro color. Went through some pretty obnoxious shades of blue/teal, silver, copper and even Plum Crazy before deciding I couldn't go wrong with red. The Chevy reds just didn't do it for me, though...finally went with Rossa Andromeda. No one knows sports cars like Italians, eh? Turned out awesome, too.

It always the basic questions.

"So...What IS that thing?

My favorite;
"Is that a Ferrari?"

 

Are you kidding me? LOL I could see an uninformed person mistaking a Camaro for a Firebird or maybe a 2010 Camaro for a Mustang...but a Ferrari?

We've probably all been asked to sell...I gotta say I love how "the media" likes to make fun of third gens and treat them like they're all rusted out junkbuckets on blocks in front of people's trailers- yet it seems like most people absolutely love them and/or want to buy them when they see one in person.

 

i was walking back to my car after going to the bank and some guy walked by and said "so thats who i lent my car to" gets me every time

 

Well, to be honest, the first Ferrari sighting was a kid on a bicycle (maybe 13?) and the second was a woman. Still funny nonetheless.

 

well going into supermarket today , usual questions . last one , is it for sale ? i replied " everything in this world is for sale " . my next reply was it would cost you more than twice what the car cost new . got a good laugh . reply , i don't blame you , good looking car . told him my ex-wife was for sale . he was not interested ( DAMN THE LUCK ) , said he also had one . oh well !!!

I pulled into a gas station at the pump, and the guy pumping gas in front of my car asked me if my car was a 2 door or 4 door!!...after I kindly explained to him they didn't make 4 door Camaro's, he proceeded to tell me "yes they did, my buddy had one"...I just laughed at him and he left.....what a douche

 

Some guy asked me if i had vtec

 

should have said yes and added that its got a v12

 

I seem to only get "Do you want to get rid of that?" from the adults, and a thumbs up or "Nice car!" from kids especially with the tops out.

 

Driving home yesterday and about two blocks from myself I saw 3 kids walking home from school and one of them pointed at my car and I could read his lips, "Cool car!"

Kids were probably about 10 years old!

 

Mine isn't running yet but shortly after buying it I was asked "How much will you sell it for after you get it done?" My reply "It isn't for sale. If I put a price on it I have to be willing to sell it. It would be much more than you would want to pay."
His response "I am getting a 250,000 settlement."
Me "Well there you go."
He had no answer then. He saw a $600 car and thought $1500 fixed up. (But does this mean I have to part with it for $250,000, I sort of put a price on it?)

 

2010 SS camaro pulls up besides me (guy was a bit douchey) and then he gave me a thumbs up an drove off. I get young kids now that school started and i live beside a high school.. They always turn their heads and actually stop walking and look... I have to thank Michael Bay for putting the camaro as the transformer cuz I think that might have something to do with it... Except mine looks like a decepticon lol...

 

From the wife: Why is it when you buy more parts you end up taking more stuff off just to install them....(just got a D1SC and i'm currently installing "other" mods to support it)

Back when I drove it everyday, I would get "where's your ******". Now I just get "When is that thing gonna be done?" edit: haha, I didn't know that bad hair style was a swear word!
