I get that with both the Mustang and IROC from people who are areacquaintances, that basically know my age, but don't really know me personally.

Otherwise I've got height and size on my side, and no one really questions my ownership of either car.

Odd thing happened today though. I was sitting in a parking lot waiting for someone, and the kid at the grocery store who was pulling carts up to the front stood in front of the Mustang, and moved his hand to side, the motion you'd make when checking for neutral. I didn't understand if he was asking if it was a manual, or if he wanted me to do a quick burnout or something. I told him yeah, it's a 6 speed. Then he asked me why it's a 6 speed, and I basically gave up. Told him I swapped in a T56 6 speed from an '03 Cobra.

Some people in Delaware aren't too car smart, but at least they're friendly.

My friends mom thinks my car is a corvette..

And I've had a person leave a note under my windshield wiper while I was in class, asking if my car was for sale...I informed them that my car will never be for sale

I sympathize, I very much sympathize. After owning it a year and a half, dumping about 3k into it I drove my car for 2 weeks, hopefully my tax return can help me get it close to being roadworthy again.

Being loud is a catch 22, sure it gets your car noticed, but eh, not always by the people you want it to be noticed by :P On the flip side for some reason this is the first car I've ever had that the tires don't squeal during burnouts, they spin and leave tread but they do it silently

However, loud does "equil" fun. I had a hell of a time going through the Chesapeake bay bridge tunnels when I had the T56 swapped into the Rustang.

 

In my GTA i get
"wow that thing sounds beastly"
"are those stock seats" no they are sparco
"that thing stock" no its got a cam intake and trans job

And i normaly get this in my TTA
"what year camaro is that" its not a camaro as clearly posted on my windsheild
"Whats it got" v6 from PAS
then the next thing they say is
"who the hell is PAS"

At the light i got asked by a guy driving a 90 camaro with large tires and a loud exhaust "is that an v8"and when i said "its a v6 and say you wana race that big ol v8" and he said "sure but im gunna smoke you" then when he caught up to me at the next light i said "oh i forgot to mention its a TTA running full boost on 112 octane" then he just pretend not to notice me

i love that because the car is so dam quiet and people think they can take advantage of it.

i know exactly what you mean, i got an 80 camaro and a 90 camaro (i just turned 18) my friends always ask "well you got two so will you give me one?" then also, howd u get the money to buy it or why did your perants buy you two cars, which they didnt i bought both mine... its so anoying lol just cuz your perants bought u a car doesnt mean my perants bout me mine (my usually reply lol) then i get a WTF look when i tell them im looking for a 2.8 stick firebird xD

 

I've only had the car out driving for four days/60 miles, but the number one question I've been asked so far is "Is that the original color". My reply is, "Yes, this is what the proper factory dark teal looks like when it hasn't been abused for 20 years".

 

That actually sounded really good. I always expect that 305 "hollow" sound with any TPI car for some reason, even though you have a 5.7.

Some day I'll have the IROC rebuilt, or maybe just pick up a 383 long block for it to drop in, since this is my only means of being loud now.

not my my knowledge, i bought it as a 305 and i never checked the block lol people hear my exhaust and it turns heads edelbrock headers/ 3in y pipe, 3in "test pipe" in place of my cat, 3 inch all the way back to my flowmaster 40series muffler and then 2.5" exits, never bothered redoing the exit pipes and ive got a motor/ tranny swap on my hands right now so im not too worried, sounds mean enough

 

I think many would agree with me that the first thing someone asks you about your thirdgen was "son, do you know how fast you were going?"

Most of the time though, it's something stupid like "does it have posi?" or "how many miles?"
