Hit and Run
Hit and Run
Long story short: Well I just left school and went to the bank to deposit some money. Parked next to a big white Excursion. When I arrived at my girlfriend's house, I realized something was wrong. There is now a huge dent and white scrapes in the rear driver's side quarterpanel. I tried to talk, but all I did was point and studder. Then I fell to the ground in tears. My baby had been hit and the suspect fled the scene.
I cried hell yes I cried. Call me what you will, but I'm sure after you work your AS.S off for a car as nice as this all by yourself you'd break down in tears like me.
I filed a police report and he said he'd keep a lookout for a white Excursion with my paint on it. The car is scraped from the rear fender to the bumper, and the dent is just as large, and goes in about two inches. I took it to a local body shop and he estimated around $550 as a rough guess. That's not including any extra work possibly needed to be done to wheel wells etc. I've got a feeling it will be much more than $550. I have good insurance though. I believe its a $100 comprehensive deductable, because I was not even in my car at the time. Oh but this will be my second comprehensive claim, and that sucks *****.

It sucks don't it? I found my passenger's side quarter panel scratched to hell a couple weeks ago. I fixed it myself not too badly using the tech article on here. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about that... I put in a lot of hours on my car, did the body work and paint myself, only to have it banged into the first week of driving it by a shopping cart. Nothing like what happend to you but I felt like I was back at square one. Since then, I really don't care about scratches or small dents, holding off painting it again till some other things are done first.

I found a good way to tell if the primered car is ******* by looking at his wheels.... scauffiel is definately not a ******* and he has decent $1000 wheels... evilcartman is lookin pretty red with them wheels!
Hey OEJ, I had something similar to that happen to my bird..
Get a written estimate from the body shop ASAP.. Keep that.. Then take your car home, find something like a soft hockey puck or a pad.. Take the interior panel out (looks like the glove box panel for you).. Then use a prybar from inside the trunk and keep something in between the bar and the body.. I've fixed so many dents like this that it isn't even funny..
Keep working at it and all that will be left there is a little crease and the body shop will probly drop some off the bill.. Alot of that paint will come off too, since it's not your paint scratched, it's his on yours... I would work on the dent like I said and then see if you can buff most of that paint out..
I hit a street sign in the front.. It took a big dent in my fender... If you look at the pictures of my car though you can't even tell anymore...
Anyway, if you get the den't out it wouldn't look so bad and there isn't much in the way.. Those panels are pretty flexible..

I feel your pain the same thing happen to me at a local mall went in for 5-10 mins came out and bam! We pulled the dent out with a plunger and me pushing on the back of the car through were the tire jack is. It came out better than it looked. I had to drive around like a ******* for a couple of months, and this dent happened after some sidewhiped it two weeks ago, I agree with ya it ll make ya cry, especially after all the time and money put into it, and the police report never does **** they say they will but they wont and insurance usually doest cover it, I found a place that will fix the dent for about 400 and got it done for with my front end and it looks better than before as my pics show, just look around and you ll find a better deal and when it comes back you ll feel really good about your ride again

Darn Soccor Moms!
Seriously, that isn't cool when people do that crap. Especially soccor moms in SUVs. I came out from K-mart one time, and there was this huge dent in my rear right quarter by the bumper, and a shopping cart was laying there on it's side.
My friend said I turned beat red, repeatedly threw the cart on the ground like a psychotic ape and was muttering inaudible curse words! lol.

Oh man I feel your pain. The same thing has happened to me twice before and I finally caught the **** who did it the third time. First time was my own fault - I should have never entrusted my uncle with the car. The dumb f**k returned it to me with faded paint, missing stereo, and dented fender. Second time was only a day after i got my car back. Some stupid f**k driving a land yaght (sp?) squished the quarter panel exactly like it is on your car. Never caught that ****
. Finally the third time I caught the culprit. Some dude backing out of his parking spot in the morning smacked the driver's side door in. It wasn't too hard to find him since he left his paint all over my door and i remembered who I had parked next to the night before. His insurance is paying to fix the damage.

im not normally like him, i was just reading a old post, and it pssed me off. i hate people that dont have anything better to do than just sit around ragging on peoples car. i live in a real rich town (kids at my school have 2001 mustang gt converts, jeep cerokies, and honda civics) and they think my car is not as good as theres because it didnt cost 30,000$, but they wounldnt know the difference bettween a camshaft, and a intake manifold.

FREE WORLD and YOUR COUNTRY?!? This doesnt make sense. Just when i thought you could be decent, you say something as unintelligent as this.
"OEyeJ" was pretty uncool to impersonate you, but you gotta admit, it did SOUND like you. And just reading the last post you made...of course....proven. So what's the difference? He just said them for you or repeated what you said earlier.
By the way, I will choose to stay in this country. I work for the federal government and have been in this country 10+ years more than you.

im not going to get into your little battle over ******* and who said what. i personaly dont care. but ive gotten a dent right there on my formula (my girlfriend backed into me.) if you can (ive never worked on a car with rear ground effects but they look fine in your pics) take the gfx off and do like the other fella said...take something smallish that will accept pressure and spread the pressure out(small block of wood..street hocky puck without rollers) nothing that will push in one sharp confined area (read: dont use a nail punch or something stupid) and slowly work your way around the dent pushing it out...its also helpfull to keep something like a block of wood covered in a bit of cloth (to not scratch the paint) so you dont press out to far and crack the paint..that looks worse then the dents...work slowly and if you have to slightly heat up the area (with a blow dryer or heat gun prefferably if you have one) then after its looking acceptable gently rub the white paint off..you dont appear to have any real scratches...and it will look better then a great big dent right there (and may drop your repair bill) if you need any extra help shoot me a e-mail

Mudflaps or not,, either way is fine, they have a function,, I was only kidding you about it anyways.
Oh man...here it goes. A board dedicated to helping other 3rd Geners out, becoming a flame/bitch board. Lets try to keep this board about talking about OEJ's bird and how messed up it is and how unfair it is. I dont know about everyone else But I hate to read posts that are "this person is an A hole" "Well no this person is a bigger A hole." I am sorry about your car, but lets just chill with it......
