eliminating the air dam on my t/a?
okay..first off
1. its ugly af
2. it scrapes EVERYTHING
3. my car could be lower if i didnt have it
SO! i was thinking maybe something like the Poly Motorsports T/A has for there i/c but for my radiator.

the first option doesnt look bad ive seen that black ta before but i wouldnt do it just leave the air dam

if its too low, you could trim it a little first.
dont cut a hole in the front of the car, besides the steel impact bar is behind the bumper and air wont flow through it.

I had some clearance issues and solved it by building my own airdam which is only 4" high and slightly angled towards the front of the car.
Nearly invisible at first glance.
The fan is on more often as with a stock airdam however, but temperatures are low nonetheless.
I would definately advise against cutting up a good T/A. That last car is ugly as sin IMHO.

Yes, trim it or let it trim itself. My car was slammed so much I was eating fenderwell, well just the plastic part(oh the young days

If it is really visible, the car is too high! 
It is just plastic. Let it rub & clearance itself & slow down for dips & bumps..
You could go with a Cowl Induction hood with an open back, to let hot air out. That alone most likely won't allow a car to eliminate the air dam, but it can help eliminate underhood heat.

You really need the air dam - it's a critical part - without it you'll run too hot on the highway. All those pics you showed have an air dam of some kind under the car, you just don't see it in those pics.
Attack driveways and speed bumps at an angle, helps reduce the scraping - I never hit anything like that head on, always at an angle.

Looks about the same ride height as mine.
Since I really have a clearance issue getting my car into my garage, and the car came without an airdam I spent $10 at a DIY and about 30 minutes at home and made a 4" high airdam.

The image is a bit dark. Didn't take my time adjusting the camera settings for that shot.

Don't mind the rust. I replaced most of the rusted parts and cleaned the others by now. Shot was taken shortly after I got the car. The shot was taken almost a year ago. Clearance under the airdam is about the height of a pack of smokes. I'd say somewhere around 5". Maybe 6.

I ran without one for years on my 92 v6 Firebird. Never had overheating problems until I installed a 85-90 t/a front bumper on it and it was then I had to get an air dam. Keep in mind the 92 firebird front bumper is smaller, v6 engine takes up less space. One issue was the hood lifted up about an inch near the windshield at highway speeds. So I guess one thing that might help is getting a bumper without gfx?

Nothing quite as fancy as steel.
The 75 degree angle was previously a 90 degree angle.
The airdam itself is made of high density industrial foam.
It holds temperatures up to 160 degree F and resists corrosion caused by most fluids and even some acids.
The construction so far holds up fine. Fitted it nearly a year ago and been travelling about 3000 miles with the airdam and even though it looks flimsy (3mm thick) it's quite strong and held up against some impacts (rocks etc) as well as speeds up to 100mph (haven't travelled a lot faster then that up to now because I need new shocks and springs first))
