caring for my new rims
i just got the weld rts's with the black centers. What would be the best way to care for, and polish and wax them. Im concerned that polish will scratch,or cut the anodizing. i want to get a good coat of wax on them before they go on the car.
these are my first rims, and id like to take care of them. any advice?

Re: caring for my new rims
i bought brand new chrome iroc replicas last year. i put a nice coat of wax on them and detail spray/cleaned them after every drive. you dont have to clean them after every drive mine is a show car/garage diva so i spend more time cleaning then driving. but the wax works well
Re: caring for my new rims
i have polished stock rs wheels. mine is also a garage car. once a month i clean them with dishwashing detergent ( yes i know some will say bad) and then put some mothers on them. billet mothers polish. they turn out perfect every time.

the center is black anodized. would the abrasive in the polish cut it? or should i just do a simple wash and wax, and only polish the rim?

i wouldnt polish the black. just use a carnuba wax or yellow wax with nothing abrasive.. same on the polished. there new there no need to use an abrasive on it. cleaner wax has abrasives in it.

Re: caring for my new rims
im a huge fan on non greasy tire products. i hate the gel and sprays they leave **** all over my rear panels. i found that black magic makes this wondeful tire spray called matte tire finish brings out a nice deep DRY black look.. i love it personally http://www.blackmagicshine.com/titan...nish-tires.php
as for wax i use a non abrasive wax. meguiars yellow wax. its in a tan bottle and a bit more expensive then the regular stuff. but i think its worth it. also if your paint is a little older and wax i had alot of success on my black oldsmobile alero was GM parts wax. i liked that to. but it has some abrasives in it bieng a cleaner wax and all.

I would use meguiars NXT wax on them...and Meguiars also makes a excellent aluminum polsih.... Black magic makes a matte finish tire shine that I LOVE...insted of looking greasy it makes the tire just look clean and new.Nice wheels btw!!!

Re: caring for my new rims
Whatever you do, don't use any type of wheel cleaner on them. Period. I'm convinced that in my younger years I ruined several sets of aftermarket wheels with wheel cleaner. Your best bet is to wipe them down with quick detailer as often as possible to prevent the build up of brake dust. Also, wax them at least monthly with a high-quality wax (3M, Mothers, Maguiars, etc).
As for tire shine, I prefer Maguiar's Hot Shine tire spray. It comes out slick-looking but does not "sling" off onto the body panels. Typically I shoot the tires with that and then lightly buff over them with a tire dressing applicator (Autozone sells a little yellow foam one that has a molded foam handle so you avoid making a huge mess) to remove any access product and ensure all crevices are reached. Little do I hate more than getting your car all detailed and then the first time you drive it having tire shine flung all over the paint!
