Which body style do you prefer?
I know it's kinda bias asking this on thirdgen.org but which body style do refer most? Third or fourth? It's a little debate between a coworker an myself.
Re: Which body style do you prefer?
3rd. I just don't like 4th gens for some reason. I mean, the Firebirds are neat looking, but I don't like their Taurus look-a-like tail lights, or the 4th gen Camaro's catfish look.

I was thinking about an LS1 Firebird though, then I bought the Mustang mainly because I wanted the looks.

Re: Which body style do you prefer?
Personally I prefer the third generation, which might have been the main reason why I actually bought one I guess.
My main grudge with the 4th gen is that they look massive.
There isn´t a single elegant element on the whole car, which goes especially for the firebirds, but also somewhat for the 4th gen camaro.
I do not like the 4th gen interior either. It´s just too "run-off-the-mill" compared to the third gen F-bodies interior.
The third gen F-bodies appear lighter and more elegant. I think one of the major design flaws, in my opinion, is that the 4th gens have extremely rounded edges, especially when looking at the transition from hood to fender and trunk to fender.
GM also took the wedge shaped design one step further then in the 3rd generation F-body, and where it workd perfect in the third gen, being somewhat of a decent wedge shaped design with a lot of sharp edges, the 4th gen is more extremely wedge shaped with rounded corners. That is another design element I just do not like.
The front and rear of the 4th gen camaro are ok as far as I´m concerned. Nothing outragious or spectacular but ok. As for the firebird, I think the huge rear light kind of kills the design. Makes the rear look plump.

Def 3rd.
3rd Gens can look great stock and even better with some upgrades(rims, hoods, lowered).
4th gens to me only look good with at least some wheels and a drop. 98-02 WS6 Trans Ams are the only good looking stock 4th gens.

If you guys recall there was a period when the whole bubble/ rounded off cars were popular. As you guys can see in the pics above. I think the 3rd gens look way better without a doubt! When GM decided to make the Camaro look like a catfish on roids...umm yeah...it was time to finish production!

I have both a 4th Gen and a 3rd and I love the looks of the 3rd gen better, just classic body styling.

Re: Which body style do you prefer?
yeah 3rd gen as well
For the firebird In monochormatic GTA guise and the early (82-84) non GFX TransAm's have a really elegant appearance - graceful in the shoulder line and lightly barrelled sides - look at it slightly off-centre from the back.
They also seem to follow an aeronautical theme quite consistently from the raked back exterior to the cockpit interior - again referencing the firebird. Sounds cheesy but its like the designers had a vision, a concept in mind where the 4th gen seemed more haphazard
THey also have more of a purposeful feel to the design. I mean they were strangled for horsepower so aerodynamics was a big deal - even if only for marketing to have something to pitch. things like concealed wipers and and flowing design - see above aeronautic refereces
I still do think the 4th gen looks good- as above the WS6 LS1 Firebird's are simply badass. But 3rd gens just look prettier I think

I hate how eveyone and their dog like the ls1 cars. And think they are the best thing in the world. Yeah a ws6 ls1 looks good, but has nothing on a 3rd gen with slight aperance mods. For half the price
